QPR Prediction Cup - League Cup 2020/21 - Round 1
Welcome to the knockout QPR Prediction Cup for the League Cup 2020/21! It is a companion to our main QPR Prediction League. Both are extremely simple, free and easy to play along with so do join in. It won't take you more than 2 minutes to submit your entries once you have read the rules.
This will run in exactly the same knockout format as the Prediction Cups last season which were won by ashqpr and LurkR. If your predictions aren't good enough at any stage you will be knocked out!
The winner of the League Cup competition will receive 10 bonus points towards their score in the final phase of the QPR Prediction League which of course runs all season. The FA Cup knockout cup will start in January when another 10 bonus points will be on offer.
If you are a new player or new member of the site feel free to play along in both the League and Cup, just make sure you can commit to playing in all of the 5 possible rounds in this Cup should you make it that far as Round 2 onwards are head to head clashes.
If you are not already a member of the site you will need to register to play for free by clicking here: Log in to Hoops & Dreams
The format of our League Cup 2020/21 Prediction Cup will be as follows:
Round 1: Everybody enters with just the top 16 scorers overall going through to Round 2.
Round 2/Last 16: 16 players face off into 8 head to head ties and the winner from each tie goes through (position 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, 3 plays 14 and so on)
Round 3/Quarter Finals: 8 players in 4 head to head ties
Round 4/Semi Finals: 4 players drawn into 2 matches
Round 5/Final - final of the remaining 2 players
The Scoring:
Each round is based on 4 matches with less points available in each match from 1 to 4.
This year we are starting a round later than usual so some rounds will be based on premier league matches as well as League Cup matches so I can spread the competition out. If you make it through you'll need to keep an eye out for the following rounds cut off point.
Remember this is a companion cup to our Prediction League, you really need to play both, so only enter if you are going to keep checking in!
Here is how Round 1 will score:
When predicting a scoreline you get 6 points for the correct score, 3 points for a correct result. All scores are including any extra time (if played) but excluding penalties.
When predicting a first scorer this is worth 6 points. Just like in the QPR Prediction League a new feature is you get 1 'back up' point if the player you predict scores at any time.
A first goal time is chosen from 6 time brackets with 3 points awarded if you are correct. Predicting the team who will score first is worth 1 additional point.
As a form of goal difference you also need to predict how many bookings will occur in all 4 games as a total. The more wrong you are, the more points added to your goal difference. The aim is to be as close as possible... the lower your goal difference the better. This will be used to separate any joint scores.
If things are still level I count the amount of exact scores, first goal scorers and highest score in a single match so these are used as further tie breakers.
That is it, simple to play, hard to be correct! 46 points is the maximum score in Round 1.

The Quarter Finals would subsequently be 2 groups of 3 players with the top 2 going through rather than 4 head to head matches.
