It was an incredibly strange opening to the cup as all 4 matches were draws, which meant points were incredibly hard to come by
Matches 2, 3 and 4 took place on Tuesday night, with Match 1 not taking place until Thursday - hence the wait for the results
Match 2 was nil nil between Palace and Bournemouth, which meant that only ashqpr picked up 3 points as he went for a draw.
Matches 3 and 4 were draws too, both 1-1, which meant points were really at a premium.
In Match 3 it was Oxford Vs Watford which saw LurkR, Ghost and kingfisher get 3 points for getting the 16-30 first goal time - but they were the only points scored!
Gillingham Vs Coventry in Match 4 only had the match score to predict. QPRBex made a big step towards the next round brilliantly predicting the 1-1 score on the money to gain 6 points whilst nobody else got anything!
So finally was Match taking place last night as Burnley and Sheffield United also drew 1-1! Well done to MCM Hoop, MaxQPR and CutePR for getting that one perfectly
ashqpr got the 0-15 first goal time whilst e17hoop, MCM Hoop and kingfisher got 1 point for predicting Sheff Utd would score first.
The Final summary....
It was a bit of a strange round really, I think it perhaps came too early in the season. We only had 13 of the 22 players in the prediction league enter and of those who did nobody scored more than 7 (MCM Hoop). We had 4 players score nothing from 46 available.
So what I have decided it to treat this as Leg 1
It gives the other players who failed/forgot to enter a chance to enter Leg 2 and they will just be at a slight disadvantage to those who entered Leg 1
The top 8 scoring players overall from Legs 1 and 2 will go through to the Quarter Finals. It means there will still be 5 rounds like always, but gives everybody a chance to enter the competition and the best scorers will still make it through.
If anybody has any objections just let me know.
Here are the scores after Leg 1:
Leg 2 will run in a few weeks once the main league has settled down.
