I thought at such a turning point in the season these stats warranted their own thread to discuss
POINTS
The defeat against Barnsley means we still have only 7 points from the opening 8 games
We drop to 18th, but could be up to 3 places lower after tonight's results.
We of course haven't won since the opening day; a run of 7 league games without a win. We also went 7 league games without a win under Mark Warburton last November.
It is therefore QPR's worst start to a Championship season in 13 years - since 2007 - when we only had 3 points after 8 games.
Even under Steve McClaren when we lost the opening 4 games 2 years ago we managed to get to 10 points after 8 games.
We have now only won 3 out of 17 league games behind closed doors (3 out of 18 competitive matches BCD if you include the cup)
SCORING
We have only scored 6 goals in 8 games (We had scored 14 after 8 games last season). And remember of those 6 goals 2 were penalties and 1 was from a corner... so we've only scored 3 goals in open play in 8 games.
We haven't scored in the last 4 league matches - the first time we have gone 4 league games in a row without scoring since December 2016
If we fail to score on Saturday against Cardiff it will be the first time in 18 years, since November 2002, that we have gone 5 league games in a row without scoring
With only 2 shots on target against Barnsley it means we have only had 7 shots on target in the last 7 1/2 hours of football played (5 matches)
So basically watching QPR you get to enjoy 1 shot every hour. "entertaining, attacking football" they say....
DEFENDING
Since the start of last season QPR have let in 86 league goals in 54 games - 1.6 goals per game.
Count the cup matches and it means that under Warburton we have conceded 97 goals in 59 games.
Despite conceding 3 goals for the 2nd time this season we have improved compared to 12 months ago (conceded 10 compared to 14).
But we are still one of only 7 teams who have conceded double figures to this point in the season.
Yoann Barbet has now scored as many own goals so far this season (2) as our top scorer at the correct end of the pitch (Lyndon Dykes).
PLAYERS
Rob Dickie is the first QPR player to be sent off this season
Lee Wallace, Geoff Cameron and Bright Osayi Samuel all lost their record of starting every match so far this season
Barbet, Chair, Dickie and Kakay are now the only 4 players who have appeared in each match. Of those only 2 - Barbet and Kakay - have played every minute of every game.
Todd Kane and Conor Masterson both made their first appearances of the season
