If you want to directly 'tag' a user into your post you need to type @ followed by their username
So if for example you wanted to tag kingfisher you would enter
@kingfisher This will give the user you tag a direct notification the next time they log in or refresh that there is something for them to read or that they need to be aware of
This is particularly useful if you want to reply to something that person put, without needing to quote their whole post again
Without using the @ if you just type their name they may never know you have mentioned/replied to them!
Also for info to tag me you need to enter:
@admin
Not 'northwesthoop'
Any confusion let me know

I plan to use kingfisher every single time I post and see how long it takes before he loses his mind!
The best you can hope jimjams is that it will return me to something resembling normality! I am already well on the way to losing my mind - ask northwesthoop!!
I've been asked about tagging again recently and here is an even easier way:
Just click this little icon shown below when you are typing out your message
You can then search for the user by their display name and it will bring them up. All you do is select the username from the dropdown and it adds a tag link for you automatically with the correct username.
