QPR Prediction Cup - FA Cup 2020/21 - Round 1
Welcome to the knockout QPR Prediction Cup for the FA Cup 2020/21! It is of course a companion to our main season long QPR Prediction League.
This will run in the same knockout format as our recent League Cup Prediction Cup which has been running since the start of the season. If your predictions aren't good enough you will be out!
Just like the League Cup the winner of the FA Cup competition will receive 10 bonus points towards their score in the final phase of the QPR Prediction League. So if you play that then you will want to take part in this FA Cup knockout.
Please make sure you can commit to playing in all of the 5 possible rounds in this FA Cup should you make it that far as Round 2 onwards are head to head clashes.
The format of our FA Cup 2020/21 Prediction Cup will be as follows:
Round 1: Everybody enters with just the top 16 scorers overall going through to Round 2.
Round 2/Last 16: 16 players face off into 8 head to head ties and the winner from each tie goes through (position 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, 3 plays 14 and so on)
Round 3/Quarter Finals: 8 players in 4 head to head ties
Round 4/Semi Finals: 4 players drawn into 2 matches
Round 5/Final - final of the remaining 2 players
The Scoring:
Each round is based on 4 matches with less points available in each match from 1 to 4.
Each round will focus primarily on the QPR match for as long as we are still in the FA Cup. Once QPR exit the remaining rounds will just focus on the main matches in each round of the FA Cup.
Round 1 will therefore be based on QPR Vs Fulham with 3 other bonus matches available to gain points from in the FA Cup 3rd Round.
Round 2 will use Round 4 of the FA Cup, The Quarter Finals will be based on Round 5 of the FA Cup. Our Semi Finals will be based on the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup fixtures in March and the Final will use the fixtures from the Semi Finals in April along with some Premier League matches where required.
Remember this is a companion cup to our Prediction League, you really need to play both.
Here is how Round 1 will score:
When predicting a scoreline you get 6 points for the correct score, 3 points for a correct result.
When predicting a first scorer this is worth 6 points.
A first goal time is chosen from 6 time brackets with 3 points awarded if you are correct. Predicting the team who will score first is worth 1 additional point.
As a form of goal difference or penalty shoot out you also need to predict how many bookings will occur in all 4 games as a total. The more wrong you are, the more points added to your goal difference. The aim is to be as close as possible... the lower your goal difference the better. This will be used to separate any joint scores.
If things are still level I count the amount of exact scores, first goal scorers and highest score in a single match so these are used as further tie breakers.
That is it, simple to play, hard to be correct! 46 points is the maximum score in Round 1.

The Quarter Finals would subsequently be 2 groups of 3 players with the top 2 going through rather than 4 head to head matches.
