In a recent interview with Robbie Fowler, Joey Barton has said that QPR were his ‘least favourite’ club, claiming that the fans ‘didn’t particularly’ like him.

I hate Joey Barton. It is no surprise that he said that because he only came here for money.
It is always somebody else's fault with him. Excuses, excuses, excuses.
In some podcasts last season he openly admitted that he tried to make Mark Hughes fail, to undermine the manager, once Barton was put with the reserves at the start of 12/13.
He had far too much influence for a bog standard player. We should never have signed him.
i must be in the minority of possibly being the only one that liked Joey Barton at QPR i just liked him yes his ego was far too big but i thought he looked liked he cared for us well at least he did when i saw him play under redknapps promotion play off winning team when he jumped on tony fernandes made me think WOW i like this guy
when we signed him i was over the moon
for me he was the irritant in your side you hated when he was on the other team
a bit like Marc Bircham but (hate to say this) a better footballer
I didn't loathe Barton - but when a player aims to be bigger than a club it should always ring alarm bells. Barton makes money from being controversial and at the end of the day that will never keep a player at a club for long spells.

For me, as well as seeking to undermine the managers, my beef with Barton is his unreliability on the pitch. You never knew when he was going to give away a free kick in a dangerous area or even get sent off - you just knew he would! I hated when we were reduced to 10 men because of him and his ego... Surprisingly Clint Hill, someone I admire, really extols the benefits of having Joey Barton in your side, and so does Sean Derry; so are we wrong or perhaps only seeing his bad bits?

Ultimately, it's going to be very hard to like somebody if the only reason they've moved to the club is money (which Joey has openly admitted many times). However I do feel like the crowds really got behind him in the play-off season, and many people (including a lot on the old QPRNet) said he'd have been one of their contenders for Player of the Season behind the likes of Austin or Hill.
liking joey speaks volumes i do think some of u concentrated on his bad bits which there were a lot of but some of you guys didnt concentrate on adels bad bits? which were more frequent and often than joeys
1 thing i noticed Nedum Onouha who i think is a great man and a very good servant of QPR hated Joey with a passion
so lets face it Joey must have been marmite in the changing rooms and not just with the fans

The difference with Adel is that when he tried he was a genius and brought us memories that will last a lifetime. On the few occasions when Joey did try he still couldn't beat the first man with a corner and just ran about a bit.
I suppose his playing style was a bit like that of Marc Bircham which you mentioned in an earlier post, but the difference is Marc Bircham put the club first rather than himself, and was probably on a few thousand a week compared to a hundred thousand a week.
Joey Barton has taken over at Bristol Rovers and brought in his side-kick - Clint Hill. Rovers are currently 19th in the league so it will be a tough job, but more experience to be gained by both.
