5 simple words We can’t afford his wages But what a day that would be if he came back Then again combined wages we paid Hemed and wells last season we could of got Charlie
Even if he would come and we could afford him, is he the same Charlie Austin we sold to Southampton? He’s older and had injuries. We’d all love to have the old Charlie Austin back but I wonder ...
He is a proven goal scorer though. His stats do speak for themselves. We've been so lacking in a frontman for so long. I think regardless of injury and time, he'd still be worth the punt.
Warburton wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole Always will respect Charlie but I just think he wouldn’t slot in to our new team at the moment
I agree we have zero percent chance of signing him, but disagree that he wouldn't fit into our new team. Warburton's teams all play with a lone striker, with the team built to work the ball forward and create chances for that player in the box - so he is tailor made for a Warburton team as he'll get lots of chances created for him. That is why most fans wish we could stretch to bring him back because 1) they already love him 2) we've never replaced him since he left

Left out of the Saints pre season your and told to train with the U23's.
With his time running out to get a move there must be the possibility we have a chance to get him? Nobody is going to pay £8-10 million with him available for free next year.
We have no chance of signing him permanent as he won't walk away from a £50k per week contract but we could do a loan paying some of his wages otherwise Southampton will be paying all his wages for him to sit around. And surely Austin himself would rather be playing somewhere at least. He will probably now end up on loan somewhere so why not us?

Would be nice to have him back on a season's loan for both parties, and we could extend the memories by making it a 'Austin 7' shirt!

As long as he is still an Austin Maestro that will do for me!
