Lovely idea but I’m sure he will find a team in the premiership or at least one that’s got a good chance of going up next season which unfortunately rules us out...

What will always keep us in any possible running is he never wants to move up north. He has horse racing interests locally too. Huddersfield for example would be interested as they don't score enough goals but he wouldn't want that move.
And let's not forget that by bringing Austin in that automatically improves our own chances of a good season tenfold.

I loved Charlie Austin and still do. Such wonderful memories of such a regular goal scorer. With no disrespect to our current crop - but it seems so long since we've had a player who would score on regular basis. Or is it just me?

Thanks Kingfisher! It really is a problem that I hope we fix. It seems simplistic - but there is something very nice about spending money and investing in a 'week in, week out' proven goalscorer!

£10 million is a bit steep!
I thought they just wanted him off the wage bill and he was available for free. He is 30 now, hasn't played (or scored) much in the last 18 months, they made our clear he can go and so they will not get anywhere near £10 million.
