The Play Off Fight

Ok, so realistically there is no way we are making the play offs this season. If we did it would be one of the most unlikely and unexpected runs to the top 6 of all time!
But rather than accepting we have 17 dead rubbers ahead until the end of the season let's try and get a little bit excited whilst we can (we are on our best run for 10 years after all)
We are currently 10 points off the top 6 with 2 games in hand (Vs Wycombe in March and Rotherham in April)
We are 12 points behind Reading who are 5th, 10 behind 6th placed Bournemouth and 7 behind 7th placed Cardiff - Cardiff are the danger team as they have even better form than us. So realistically we'd have to catch 2 of those 3 teams.
The amount of points needed to reach the play offs on average is between 73 and 74 points. The highest it's been is 80 with the lowest 68.
We have played 29 games and have 39 points. 1.34 points per game so far this season. If we carry on that form we'd end up on 61 points.
This coming week is a big opportunity to at least get into the mix with games against Preston and Birmingham who each only have 1 win in 5. It will be a different conversation again should we win both of those games. Even 4 points from 6 keeps us ticking along nicely.
Bournemouth play Cardiff on Wednesday (6th Vs 7th), then Watford (3rd). Cardiff then face 8th placed Middlesbrough. So points will be split or shared giving us a further opportunity to close the gap on at least some of them.
We then face Barnsley, Bristol City, Wycombe, Huddersfield and Millwall. Of those 5, only Bristol City is away from home.
So the next 7 fixtures as a whole do offer - on paper - an opportunity to keep pressing forward. Then we play Reading on 20th March, which could then conceivably be a big game.
An issue is the amount of games. That is 8 games between 24th Feb and 20th March (8 in 25 days)
It is a big, big ask.
Hopefully we can at least just keep winning football matches, keep progressing and finish in the top half with lots of confidence ahead of next season.
Do you think we can/will make the top 6?
