As great as this news is for Owens himself, I don't see him troubling the first team. He still has a lot to prove football-wise and at the moment Dozzell/Thomas are struggling to even get on the bench so Owens is way down the list.

Yes he needs to go out in January and prove he can make a difference at a League 1 club.

I dont disagree northwesthoop although somebody at the club must rate him because he got his contract renewed despite his long term injury. If he gets back to full fitness by Christmas I would think they will look to get him out on loan in January to see how he performs.

That must be the plan - get him fit, loan him out and if he does well we must have an option on his contract for another year and the option to release him if things haven't gone well.
