QPR Bond

One of the benefits of being a QPR bondholder is being invited along to the Training & Development Ground whilst the First Team is training. I managed to get there today and thought I would share my observations with you:
- I was there for the opening, when it was brand, spanking new, and now it is starting to look more functional than a showcase. A few scuff marks on the skirting and some wear and tear on the floor, but it still is a great facility. The story of QPR and its most impactful players on the wall is truly inspirational.
- Everywhere we went the staff and the players usually greeted us or nodded. It is a very friendly environment. That may be because everyone moved in at the same time, or it may be a conscious effort by the staff to make the younger players feel welcome. Whatever - it works!
- I was surprised just how many non-coaching staff were there. A lot of the office, media and support staff are working there too.
- The kit rooms varied in tidiness from the DIY placements of the Development players to the carefully placed ones in the First Team by their own kitman. That kitman has apparently seen 37 managers in his time there!
- When we were allowed into the media room there were 7-8 working away in there, including Simon Cheshire (ex-Hoops & Dreams match reporter); Paul Morrissey (Head of Media); and Andy Sinton, who shook my hand. For some reason, I thought Andy just turned up for matches and social events, but obviously not!
- Josh, the Head of Operations, has indeed gone but I am unsure of the reason.
- Whilst standing outside the Board Room, in the open plan office area, we had 3 youngsters go past into it. They were joined by Christian Nourry after he had introduced himself and said 'Hello'. I am not sure if the youngsters are new Board members....
- Aside from the tour of the (impressive) facilities, the main attraction was definitely seeing the First Team training outside. When we were there it was on the full-size pitch (with the same grass as at the Stadium) and they had the squad split in half as they defended and attacked. The pace was 100% all of the time, and our guide said they were working far harder than under Gareth Ainsworth. It was certainly an impressive display of speed, skill and enthusiasm!
- One of those often coaching from the side-lines was Uncle Albert, and I got the impression they are happy to have him assist in that.
- Nobody was in the treatment room or hydro area, so I am going to suggest we have a fully-fit squad to select from for Sunday's match.
- A good few times staff were asking if we were going to be there on Sunday at Loftus Road because our support made all the difference. Nice to hear that!
