I've waited later than usual to do these results because of the confusion around first goal scorer. At the ground it was announced as Emil Riis, it looked like Emil Riis at the time and still does on the highlights. The Preston website lists it as Emil Riis but the BBC says it is a Dunne own goal.
The QPR site itself states:
So we are going with Emil Riis Jakobsen as first scorer. I have a feeling the dubious goals panel will award him it officially anyway, but I need to do the results now! That means that onenightfever, Ghost, NoahHoop, myself, Rosco Bosco, LurkR, ashqpr and MCM Hoop all get the 6 first goal scorer points.
stoatey (Gray) and singlespeed, MaxQPR, Jalfrezi Rs, ranger-boy and e17hoop (all Archer) got goal scorer back up points.
As for the result itself well done to stoatey for getting 2-1 to Preston; the only player to get the exact score.
e17hoop, MCM Hoop, ashqpr, stoatey, kingfisher, qprallan, Rosco Bosco, QPRBex and woodork all had the 31-45 first goal time.
SydneyR, e17hoop, Rosco Bosco, singlespeed, daveb and qprallan got the full 3 bonus points as Cardiff won 2-1 away at Reading
So overall...
Rosco Bosco - who hadn't scored more than 6 in any match until a week ago - has now nailed the highest score of the season with 15 points! Those 15 points aren't quite enough to get Rosco Bosco into the promotion places but he is up 3 places to 4th
ashqpr is the new leader in The Championship rising all the way up from 5th to top spot with his 12 point haul. He is ahead of singlespeed on goal difference and I stay 3rd; my own -6 from finishing bottom in Phase 2 could still cost me dearly and likewise the -2 that is impacting Rosco Bosco. 5 rounds ago kingfisher had a 13 point cushion over 4th place but he now drops from 2nd to 5th; 5 points away from the top 3. A slide just like QPR in recent weeks sadly!
stoatey got his highest score of the season with 11 points but he is still 8 points away from troubling the promotion places.
At the bottom NoahHoop is not only off the bottom but out of the bottom 3! Tomcat75 drops 2 places into the wooden spoon zone, but there are only 4 points covering the bottom 5.
In the Premier League we have a new leader as Ghost climbs 3 places from 4th to 1st! There are only 3 points covering the top 4 and honestly with 1 big score anybody in the Top 9 could still take the title!
Speaking of big scores MCM Hoop was the top scorer in the top division with 12 points to make it 27 points in a week in his fight for survival and he is out of the bottom 3, being replaced by Jalfrezi Rs who falls 3 places into the drop zone. It is a good job MCM Hoop scored big because despite all those points he is still only 2 points clear of the drop. daveb and minxymartin look doomed with 5 matches to go, sitting 15 and 16 points from safety.
CutePR was top a week ago and now drops from 3rd to 6th, which really illustrates that this is the most open title fight we have ever had!
We return to action on FRIDAY and MONDAY over Easter weekend next week, whilst ranger-boy and Jalfrezi Rs also have the FA Cup final from which one will take 10 points that will either have a big impact at the top or bottom of the Premier League!
Match 41 Table:
The QPR site itself states:
Despite making a bright start to the match and dominating for large spells of the first half, QPR went in 1-0 down at the break courtesy of an Emil Riis effort from close range, while some felt defender Jimmy Dunne may have got the final touch.
