Simple If a maximum punishment was pitch invasion is 3 point deduction then fans wouldn’t do it It’s harsh but Liverpool would of been champions today if city got punished for today’s pitch invasion

I thought the same. It has to be points deductions, because fines for the club won't bother the fans nor matches behind closed doors as fans who don't attend regularly will run on the pitch anyway.
I can also see them moving towards banning alcohol at football stadiums?
The only issue with this is most people either drink before they start their day, drink even more on the train and then continue drinking in the pubs before they even get to the grounds, meaning not bothering with alcohol inside won't make a difference. Unless the stewards were tasked with breathalysing all away fans along with the tradtional bag/pocket search?
I can't see them going down the route of points deductions, but instead I think they should bring in automatic games behind closed doors if you have a mass pitch invasion. You only have to look at last season to see how many more away wins than usual there were with no fans in attendance, so that's a punishment that could hurt.
Normally I don't have an issue with pitch invasions as they're normally just fans keen to celebrate going up, reaching the play-off final or staying up. But this season is getting ridiculous for violence and stupidity from the minless minority;
- Forest v Sheffield United - Billy Sharp assaulted
- Port Vale v Swindon - numerous Swindon players & fans physically and verbally assaulted
- Everton v Palace - Viera assaulted by a 'fan' (although I'm completely in support of Viera kicking him back)
- Man City v Villa - Olsen assaulted multiple times by mindless idiots
They're the ones I can think of from the top of my head, and there are probably some that I've missed. 4 incidents in less than 2 weeks is absolutely ridiculous and shows the FA need to take some kind of drastic harsh action to try and curb this before it gets any worse. Hopefully no more incidents happen in the lower leagues when the National League play-offs take place next week!
I read somewhere the other day that maybe getting fences/crash barriers back in stadiums would be the way to go. Hopefully it never somes to that at all. Although after Hillsborough, would they even be allowed back?
I was talking with a couple of friends at football today about it all, even before the Man City incident today. Have people genuinely forgotten how to behave after Covid and numerous lockdowns? Or are they still trying to blow off steam after it all and don't care about what they do as a result?
watching that keeper getting assaulted by those idiots yesterday i personally think they should consider taking the 3 points of man city for that game yes the title would be liverpools but could you imagine it hey it would never happen again anywhere if that happened
The last week of pitch invasions has been a bit like watching matches in the mid 70s when they were common place. Unfortunately, because things regularly turned nasty it led to horrible fencing being erected around the pitches.
You need to put in punishments that hurt, stadium closures for the first one and if you do it again points deductions
Fan behavior all season has been abysmal, the incidents in the last week are not a shock to anyone who has been regularly this season.
The majority seem to be indicating a point deduction is the way to go as above), and I cannot disagree. So the Premier League and EFL have to set it up for next season? Would you penalise away fans too for the same offence and, if so, how many 'fans' going on the pitch equates to a pitch invasion...?
