not sure if theres anything in this? but for me i would be delighted we got this over the line Long, Dykes and A N Other isn't shabby at the business end of the pitch
He's 35 now. Does he really have that same pace and energy that made him such a handful?
I can see him going back to Reading where he made his name.
His goalscoring record in the PL is less than 1 per 6 games. I know the Championship should be easier for him, but it sounds as if we would be replacing a classic car (Austin) with a VW camper...?
As expected he's gone to Reading where he will be teaming up with their other new signing... the one and only... Jeff Hendrick!!
We have been there and done that and unfortunately for them that's the market they are now in.
Following their points deduction last season they are faced with a further suspended six-point deduction if they fail to comply with an agreed business plan and it's something they will be required to adhere to until the end of this season.
Because of their financial restraints they wil be looking at Long and Hendrick to add experience to a very young group of players. If they are still in the Championship this time next year I suspect that will be viewed as success.

What doesn't make any sense is they let their captain Michael Morrison (34) leave on a free and the fans couldn't understand it, but then they sign old heads Long and Hendrick who will probably be on more money than most at their club. Slightly odd decision making.
