The good news this week is that we have 23 people playing the game, more than ever before. Welcome to the new players.
The bad news is that no-one got 2 winners and the maximum score of 3 points. This was because 5 of the 10 matches ended as home wins and 5 as draws. So no away winners to choose.
Most of us got a home winner for 1 point. 6 got Blackpool’s win over Reading, 5 got Millwall’s win over Stoke, 4 got Derby’s win over Oxford and 2 got Hull’s win over Bristol City.
Those that missed out went for Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Sheff Wed who all drew – narrow margins.
As a result of all this, 17 of us are tied on 1 point each which counts as a draw in this game.
The top 2, by the narrowest of margins are NoahHoop and singlespeed. They both picked one team who won, no teams who lost and their chosen teams had a combined goal difference of +2.
Just behind this are CutePR, daveb, ranger-boy and Rosco Bosco. They also picked one team who won, no teams who lost but their chosen teams had a combined goal difference of +1.
The rest of the players on 1 point picked a home winner but their away team lost – in most cases this was Norwich.
As we go through the season the points will spread out and we’ll be less focused on goal difference. Here’s hoping for our first 3 point scores next week.
This is the game where you pick a team and can only pick them once a season? Or am I thinking of Something else?
You're thinking of Lone Ranger. In this game I'll post 10 matches each week and you select one home team and one away team that you think will win. No restrictions on choosing a team again in the following weeks. The scoring is pretty simple too. 3 points if both of your teams win, 1 point if one of them wins, 0 points otherwise. No-one got 3 points in week 1 so you are only 1 point behind the leader.
