stoatey I wonder if the rumour has something to do with what I was quoted from the tour guide this time last year whilst touring the stadium. He said that the school is coming up for sale as they’re in discussions to move to a new state of the art facility. I could be wrong, but that’s the word I had from within the club 12 months ago. It would mean more room to push the entire ground back a bit. Would be an extensive operation, we’re talking at least a year to complete, but you could do it bit by bit and still have the ground open for games. Just a thought.
That was exactly what was being discussed. The issue of course is that the length of the school is a bit shorter than the stadium but Im sure it would be workable although it would probably mean an odd shape. It's a bit of a remote possibility but if they could also purchase some of those houses in Imre Close that I think might be Council owned then maybe there would be an opportunity to do something even better. However, our record of working with the council hasn't been particularly amicable in the last few years and they may not be conducive to anything being proposed by the club.

Loftus Road is both the most amazing and worst ground to experience football at the same time.
The view can be unparalleled in places, that feeling of being on top of the action is unmatched, the atmosphere can be incredible, but it's dated, no leg room, lots of uncovered seating, lots of restricted views and a total lack of facilities.

Lee Hoos spoke about this at the fans forum last year, the school are open to selling to QPR if we help relocate them
davebstoatey the club apparently owned houses in Loftus Road and Ellerslie Road until the late 1980s so they’ve missed a chance there. I personally think they would be sensible to take the option up on the school and possibly purchase part of Imre. Architecturally the ground will be an odd shape, but it works for Brentford. The concourses there aren’t particularly massive but they are better than what we’ve got and adequate for modern standards.
I think long term, with Khan’s ULEZ scheme, the club would be wise to petition the council to either pedestrianise part of South Africa Road or at least make it one way. The road could then be narrowed or eliminated altogether and that would give the club more room to build. In terms of knocking down parts of the ground and rebuilding piece by piece, it would emulate Spurs, albeit with a less impressive ground.

That all makes sense - making the best of a bad lot! However, this requires commitment and consensus from the council..... Fingers well and truly crossed!
I am not proposing this for Loftus Road, but highlighting as an example of maximising a stadium's use to raise revenue:
Wasps hope to share Charlton Athletic home ground The Valley starting next season should the rugby club be granted admission to the RFU Championship for the 2025/26 season. The former professional team, which entered administration with debts of £95 million in October 2022, has previously shared pitches with football clubs including QPR, Coventry City and Wycombe Wanderers.

One thing I remember about our partnership with Wasps, is that it coincidenced with one of the worst periods of football in our recent history.
kingfisher that is a temporary measure for Wasps as they are attempting to build a brand new ground in Kent.
The only option for us on this count would be a stadium share with Harlequins, but that is going to mean leaving W12 and moving to Twickenham at which point we would lose our London postcode entirely.

I am not a favour of ground-sharing for various reasons! Out of interest, the Sunday Times today had an article that proposed moving the RFU from its Twickenham HQ to a new Midlands green site. If that happened, it would leave Twickenham vacant unless a rugby club grabs it.....
