We had 18 entries with some players missing out altogether which meant only 2 players were going out in Round 1...
We had a perfect prediction in Match 1 as ashqpr, stoatey and MCM Hoop all got a full 16 points as Ecuador beat Qatar 2-0, with 4 spot on predictions.
myself, daveb and QPRBex also had Valencia as first scorer in this one for 6 points
In Match 2 the Netherlands also won 2-0 which ranger-boy, qprfcfromwhitecity, CutePR, Jalfrezi Rs and LurkR got exact
Match 3 was the 1-1 draw between the USA and Wales - a popular pick with kingfisher, MCM Hoop, qprfcfromwhitecity, myself, daveb, QPRBex, Ghost, LurkR, Rosco Bosco and Jalfrezi Rs all getting 6 points for going 1-1
Match 4 ended 0-0 between Mexico and Poland which left points at a premium but those who went for a draw got 3 points.
There were 18 bookings in the 4 matches involved and this was crucial as it was tied on scores between Ricardo Rangers and qprallan and Ricardo Rangers was closer in the goal difference so sneaks through to the last 16. qprallan is knocked out alongside SydneyR who only scored 7 points.
MCM Hoop was the top scorer with a massive 32 points with a further 6 players scoring 20+ which we rarely see.
Here is how Round 1 shaped up:
ROUND 2
In Round 2 position 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, 3 plays 14 and so on, as was the case in all our previous cups, illustrating no fixing of the draw and the higher placed players benefit by playing a lower ranked player (on paper!). It is all head to head battles from here on in!
That leaves us with the following Round 2 line up of 16 players still in with a chance of getting 10 bonus points for the QPR Prediction League:
Tie 1: MCM Hoop V Ricardo Rangers
Tie 2: QPRBex V NoahHoop
Tie 3: northwesthoop V CutePR
Tie 4: ashqpr V kingfisher
Tie 5: Jalfrezi Rs V ranger-boy
Tie 6: stoatey V Rosco Bosco
Tie 7: daveb V qprfcfromwhitecity
Tie 8: LurkR V Ghost
The points all reset to zero. Round 1 score and GD only come into play going forward if there is no separating the players in the next round.
Round 2 has a deadline of this SUNDAY - 27 NOVEMBER so remember to enter!
