Tonight I was on a call hosted by Paul Morrisey, head of QPR's media team. It was held to allow all the fan sites/forums to make themselves heard. Here are some of the topics covered and comments made:
I think it is a good initiative by the club and was impressed with Paul Morrisey's openness. It was agreed to indeed do the same in the close season. So, if you have any thoughts or topics you would like brought up then please let northwesthoop. daveb or myself know!
- Video highlights of U18 matches. I bought this up on behalf of DaveB I think, and they advised they only have a team of 5 so Saturday U18 matches prove problematic to cover. (They currently have a media student filming and reporting on matches.) It was deemed that the performance video taken (for the benefit of the coaches and players) was inadequate as a substitute. If we get into the Premiership they would do this as they would then have the cash. Shame it cannot be done regularly, as would have liked to see the budding talent, but understandable.
- Recast now focusing upon non-First Team videos as not as popular a media type as was expected
- The players have had a media training session with a well know writer, and encouraged to be open in their dealings with the media. We shall see as on 15 December I finally interview Chris Willock
- 'Tunnel Cam' is making a comeback, although it was pointed out that a bad result may restrict coverage!
- Club will investigate why QPR (unlike WBA, for example) cannot facilitate booking seats at away matches
- A new website will be launched for the 2022/23 season, presumably with Beta-testing during the close season
- I asked if it was possible to invest in improving the PA system at Loftus Road if we were unlikely to move in the near- to mid-future. Apparently such improvements have been costed at £200k, so I guess those of us in the upper South Africa Stand would rather have a new player than hear what Paul is saying at Half Time
- There was a discussion about whether it was a good idea for regular media appearances by the directors (and what they would say).
