It's inevitable if Ainsworth is making the calls because he loves him.
Martin has done his job, but we should all part ways happily.
This is a guy a mid-table Championship side happily released in January.
This is why I have my doubts about Ainsworth being the man to lead the rebuild, but only time will tell if keeping Martin is a good call. I hope I'm very wrong about it all.
I agree with northwesthoop about Martin. Thankyou very much about doing a decent job while you were here but we need to move on.
But and this is a big but, We need to attract a good young striker to the club.
With our finances this may be a very difficult thing to do. Then maybe an other 6 month contract with a 6 month option may be a good thing as a backup to an incoming striker or while Armstrong finds his feet.
We have seen in the past that getting a decent prolific striker is very difficult thing to do on a budget.
There’s lots of young talent out there Lower league and Irish league Premier league on loan Lots of released players too in the summer We just need to choose wisely And not get another Tyler roberts

Until he offers him a contract I'd be sceptical. By just suggesting that Martin could be offered a new deal it means Ainsworth keeps him hungry for the last couple of games. It's would be no good saying to Martin you're out at the end of the season because he'd be less inclined to chase and fight when we still need points.
What exactly is so special about Martin's performance that Ainsworth even makes him captain - let alone considers keeping him? He cannot move fast without tiring and being replaced; he cannot jump for balls; he cannot dribble the ball; and his goalscoring is not going to set the league alight! We brought him in when we were desperate. At the end of the season we need to release him to a lower league.
A lot will depend on the system Ainsworth wants to play and whether he sees Armstrong and Kelman as capable substitutes should Dykes get injured. Both of the youngsters are promising but neither has scored in the Championship.
The money that Ainsworth is given to improve the team will be limited so I cant see him wanting to keep Martin should he believe the other 2 can challenge for a first team spot.
I don't think much will change up front for next season. I don't see where the money comes from for a better forward 3 than Dykes, Martin and Sinclair.
It's the midfield where we need a clear out and get in another two Fields
I don't think Chair is ever going to be the next Taarabt and Willock, who could have been is off for sure
