1-0 Oxford.
Richards pulls out of a challenge, 20 seconds later after a half hearted attempt at closing down from Kakay Oxford pass into the box and score. Nice finish but terrible defending.
We look poor today anyway, no flowing football like the first half last week.
If Kakay is our first choice right back we are going down. At one point he's let a simple pass roll under his foot and go out of play. Not good enough.

Yes friendlies don't matter but jesus this is horrific. We look like a Sunday league team.
We don't look committed, we can't string a few passes together.
Richards can't stand up straight and stood on the ball when in space. Willock looks disinterested. Dykes has nobody near him. Kakay can't control it, can't defend and can't find a team mate with a pass.
Add all that to Dunne going off with a wrist or shoulder injury that looked long term and it's been a horror show.
I should start by saying I did not get to watch the game live, but that has not been helped by seeing a Twitter feed that said 5-0! Had the Russians hacked Twitter? I should be so lucky!
Losing Dunne in such a manner must have been a major blow to the side, but the Back 4 of Kakay, Rendall, Gubbins & Paal (with the experienced Field & Dozzell in front of them) should have been able to prevent more than a goal. FIVE!?
Perhaps the biggest shock though is not the defence being so poor, but instead having NO GOALS from our attack. That is even scarier and, before you ask, Chris Martin is not part of the solution! This match was meant to provide a tough opponent - Oxford must have been annoyed at not getting one!

And we start the season next week That was diabolical and inexcusable Ainsworth is already getting calls for his job The defence is shite and we do nothing to strengthen it Whatmough from Wigan is solid and available and why don’t we get him The front line is rubbish what do,we get some hungry talent on loan some youngsters from the premier league not get Chris Martin for Christ sake We are in for dire season we really are

My God, what a shambles! The only good that can come form this is that it acts as a wake up call to the whole squad, and Ainsworth. Totally unacceptable. I knew this season was going to be bad, but I had some hope of survival. But looking at this, it could be historically bad!

We had time to tweek for poor areas instead we sell players and replace them with nothing special Our squad isn’t ready to compete in the non league so how the hell is expected to compete in the championship This is not just based on today, the lack of transfer activity and lack of quality in our weak areas will cost us embarrassing results and possibly our worst season in history This current team is so poor it really is
Now I’m really worried. And I’m heading to Watford next week. 😱
116 123 is the Samaritans Ghost ..... If ever we needed proof we have no quality in depth and a toothless attack - this was it!
GA's post-match interview had him saying the side were out-fought and out-run by Oxford, and he was angry too. Sadly, his anger does little to boost confidence or calm our fears...

When you have to play Kakay (at best League 2 class), Gubbins (never played higher than the National League), Rendall (never played higher than National League South) and Dozzel (at best League 1 class) this is what we can expect.
Too many of the personnel at the club are out of their depth and didn't we recently waste more money appointing a Performance Director and Performance Coach. Well that worked!
Rumour suggests we are about to recruit a 33yo defender but we need several defenders, several midfielders and a goalscorer.
Yes it is concerning, especially as the prep & pre-match talk obviously did not work! Neither did the Half Time talk around improving the defending and attacking... Like you, I expected GA to focus upon tight defending and fast ball movement out into attack. When he does that I expect him to rant. If he cannot get this squad to work harder and better then who can?
