In the first round of the Carabao Cup weve been drawn at home to Norwich.
I would have liked an easier first round for us, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.... The guy who organises our Wednesday walking football sessions is a canaries supporter, so there will be lots of banter there - and I hope bragging rights from the three Rs supporters!
The first round fixture against Norwich also takes a hit from the pitch needing to become established, moving to the following week: Wednesday 16 August (7:45pm). A bit embarrassing for the club, but it makes a lot of sense if you are spending so much on a new pitch.
They could have dug their heels in and forced us to play it at their stadium or get in trouble for not being able to host it.
They probably think its an easy match wherever its played because we don't have a great record against them. I don't think we've beaten them at home since 2018 and we haven't beaten them at their place since 2008.
Just throw the Norwich game. The last thing we need is another long trip right between trips to Southampton and Middlesbrough, as well as risking more injuries.
But IF we make it through, just lump everything on Rob Dickie any time.
