Surely a better option than Chris Martin? Definitely good enough at this level.
He hasn't looked particularly fit any time I've seen him in recent years but his goal scoring record over the years is excellent. 1 in 2 at Peterborough and Forest, 1 in 3 at Middlesbrough.
He was at Watford the last 6 months of last season so could be based local and may favour a move to us.
I suspect Ainsworth sees Assombalonga as being able to do a short term job. In the past Assombalonga has looked strong, fast and mobile. His defending and passing have never been the best parts of his game and he's very unlikely to do any tracking back but he's experienced and seems to meet our current criteria of 'must be cheap'.
Like the possible signing of Asmir Begovic he is a short term signing in the hope that the likes of Walsh and Armstrong can step up to replace them in 12 months.

Yes that about sums him up! I am wondering if he is expected to be cover for Dykes for those reasons.
