Let's see which 16 players have made it through to Round 16 of our FA Cup knockout competition...
The points on offer were reduced somewhat by 2 of the games having an own goal to open the scoring but Rosco Bosco did predict an own goal would open the scoring in the Sunderland Newcastle match so deserves the points!
Back up points went to absolutecaulker (Kluivert), Ricardo Rangers (Tavernier), LurkR (Dykes) and CutePR, Ghost, QPRBex, e17hoop, qprallan, NoahHoop, qprfcfromwhitecity and MaxQPR (Isak)
In the QPR game kingfisher, jimjams, LurkR and CutePR got the 31-45 first goal time and well done to loftussi who got the rare 76-90 first goal time in the Arsenal/Liverpool clash
In terms of the match results nobody got any of the 4 score lines exact whilst only MCM Hoop and Ricardo Rangers got all 4 winners correct
For the goal difference there were 16 bookings in the 4 matches and that was to prove vital as we had 7 players tied on 8 points scored
MaxQPR had it exact and qprallan was 3 away so they were through but LurkR, e17hoop and QPRBex were all 4 away and so LurkR is through due to having a better individual match score having scored 8 points in Match 1. It means that last seasons FA Cup winner and current Prediction League leader LurkR stays in by the skin of his teeth and e17hoop and QPRBex couldn't have been more unlucky to miss out on Round 2! QPRBex hasn't been knocked out in Round 1 of a cup since our trial cup back in 2018.
Elsewhere Ghost is out in the first round of a cup for the first time since 2019 and it's a first early exit for Jalfrezi Rs from 5 cups entered.
Here is how Round 1 ended up:
ROUND 2
In Round 2 position 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, 3 plays 14 and so on, as was the case in all our previous cups, illustrating no fixing of the draw and the higher placed players benefit by playing a lower ranked player (on paper!). It is all head to head battles from here on in!
That leaves us with the following Round 2 line up of 16 players still in with a chance of getting 10 bonus points for the QPR Prediction League:
Tie 1: Rosco Bosco V LurkR
Tie 2: Ricardo Rangers V qprallan
Tie 3: CutePR V MaxQPR
Tie 4: loftussi V northwesthoop
Tie 5: jimjams V topo79
Tie 6: MCM Hoop V SydneyR
Tie 7: absolutecaulker V kingfisher
Tie 8: ashqpr V moldyhoop
The points all reset to zero. Round 1 score and GD only come into play going forward if there is no separating the players in the next round.
Round 2 takes place on the weekend of 27th January and will be available to enter once the dates for the fixtures have been confirmed.
