In Match 1 nobody went for 1-0 Man City, Ake as the scorer or the late goal time but moldyhoop, CutePR, kingfisher, qprallan and late entrant Ricardo Rangers didn't predict the Man City win so miss out on points.
Match 2 ended 5-2 to Brighton so was a hard one to predict. CutePR, Ricardo and myself went for a draw and missed the points. MCM Hoop, qprallan, topo79, kingfisher, Rosco Bosco, MaxQPR, ashqpr, LurkR and moldyhoop all had Pedro for a back up point. LurkR was the only player to get the 0-15 first goal time for a big 3 points.
Match 3 was 0-0 and only qprallan predicted a draw for 3 points.
Finally Newcastle won 2-0 in Match 4 and jimjams, Rosco Bosco, SydneyR, CutePR, LurkR, MaxQPR, ashqpr and myself failed to pick up points
Most of the ties had a clear winner and the top 3 scorers from Round 1 (Rosco Bosco, Ricardo Rangers and CutePR) were all knocked out.
Only 1 tie went to goal difference and that was between ashqpr and moldyhoop who each scored 8, then were each 1 away on the goal difference. They both had the same goal difference and score in Round 1 too, so it went down to matches they had scored in and moldyhoop makes it through having picked up points in 3 of the 4 matches whereas ashqpr only scored in 2 (1-4-0-3 for moldyhoop, 4-4-0-0 for ashqpr). It is the closest cup tie we've ever had, commiserations to ashqpr.
We have 4 cup debutants through to the last 8!
Here is how Round 2 ended up:
Quarter Finals:
Round 3 - the Quarter Finals - sees the remaining 8 players going head to head again. As mentioned before Round 2 the winner of Tie 1 plays the winner of Tie 5, 2 plays 6, 3 plays 7 and 4 plays 8. This is the same pre-set draw order as previous cups.
That leaves us with the following Quarter Final line up with 8 players still in with a chance of getting 10 bonus points for the QPR Prediction League:
Tie 1: LurkR Vs topo79
Tie 2: qprallan Vs MCM Hoop
Tie 3: MaxQPR Vs absolutecaulker
Tie 4: loftussi Vs moldyhoop
The points all reset to zero. Round 1/2 score and previous goal difference only come into play going forward if there is no separating the players in the next round.
The Quarter Finals will use the FA Cup 5th round matches which take place midweek so remember to keep an eye out for them. The Quarter Finals will be open to enter once the FA Cup 5th Round match dates have been set.
