The club have now confirmed that Lucas Andersen has signed.
Andersen has signed a permanent deal although the club haven't specified the exact length of the deal. Apparently, he's still awaiting a Work Permit and International clearance.
We seem to have stopped confirming how long players contracts are for. I'm not sure what the point of this is.
Andersen has played in the champions League previously so has talent, he has perhaps lost some form in recent years but he takes a good set piece so he's more than welcome!
I was a useless footballer at school But only got picked cause I was good at taking set pieces especially free kicks Marti couldn’t afford me so he got this guy instead

At that stage of his career, the young Dane was hailed as a 'great talent' by Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars and touted to be a 'prodigy' set to follow in the footsteps of Christian Eriksen. The Manchester United star had just broken through at Ajax when Andersen arrived. Eriksen eventually moved to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and went on to reach the Champions League final before a move to Old Trafford.
QPR CEO Christian Nourry said: “After our work last week, this is a very pleasing piece of business and I am delighted we have been able to find a solution to bring Lucas in. He performed above the median as a line-breaking 10 specifically for our possession-based 4-3-3 conceptual shape in data screening and was crucially, given our situation managing profitability and sustainability regulations, available on a free transfer owing to his former club’s relegation.
I have been trying to get to chat to Lucas, but to no avail. Here is an interview he has just done though:
Once a budding talent at Ajax Amsterdam between 2012 and 2016, Lucas Andersen then returned to Denmark via Switzerland, where he was released by Aalborg BK in February, only to be picked up by Queens Park Rangers. The Loftus Road Stadium residents saw the opportunity of a free transfer that could provide fruitful down the line, and the player himself, speaking to Ekstra Bladet, revealed he jumped at the opportunity presented to him.
Since joining. QPR, the midfielder has three assists in 10 appearances, and is already proving to be an adequate reinforcement, which is what all parties will have wanted from this. Speaking of the approach from the Championship side for the first time, the 29-year-old wanted to get back into football as quickly as possible after walking away from Aalborg. He said: “My agent and I travelled to London to be sure we were not sitting in Aalborg without the possibility of being able to move quickly if there was a need for it. After all, Aalborg is not the biggest travel destination.”
That being said, while he did take up QPR on their offer, Ekstra Bladet explain a move to the Championship wasn’t exactly what he had in mind as his next step. Andersen added: “But I am super, super happy to be here. It was for me just a matter of coming in and getting the chance no matter what. I wanted to go in and prove to myself that I was capable of getting back to a level that I felt I should be at, and then it was simply also about reviving the dream of being a footballer.”
Always held up against big expectations because of his early potential, the midfielder felt he needed a change of scenery for his career, and that’s what he got with QPR. He said: “Sometimes, you need new energy. You need to be looked at with fresh eyes and feel some new support (…) That’s why I’m also really happy to have had the opportunity to come here and I’m going to do everything to get my career back on track.”
