It doesn't get any easier for QPR... after our 0-0 draw against 2nd placed Burnley we host table topping Sunderland.
We've given ourselves something to build up with a solid point and first clean sheet of the season at Burnley, but Sunderland are scoring freely compared and we will need another strong 90 minute performance to get something from this game.
Frey, Paal, Colback and Morrison are all out but Marti does have a few decisions to make...
Will he bring Fox back into the defence or does Ashby deserve to keep his place?
Will he keep Zan Celar up front and/or change any of the attacking players for this one?
We discuss all of this plus Marti Cifuentes position after 12 months in charge in this weeks QPR Preview Show!
Thanks for this one lads. In my opinion this is another tough match that we can only hope to draw, rather than lose! I had seen in 'Sussex Rs' earlier this week it was a year since Marti's arrival. I really cannot see anyone seriously questioning his ability and finding a better manager to replace him at this point!
I always enjoy the podcast and Dave summed us up when he said, "As soon as we concede, we're bang in trouble". Luckily we didn't concede against Burnley despite it being like the Alamo and I imagine we will need the same defensive grit on Saturday against Sunderland.
In respect of Marti I'd agree that we shouldn't be getting rid of him any time soon. However, the new manager bounce is now well and truly over and Marti has to get us organised or else the natives will get restless.
Sunderland have done some brilliant transfer business by buying Romaine Mundle (already scored 4 this season and cost just over a million) in the knowledge that they would be selling Jack Clarke (subsequently sold to Ipswich for £15m). They even managed to get a striker on loan who has also scored 4 goals in just 9 games this season (Wilson Isidor from Zenit St Petersburg). Clearly the Sunderland transfer system is hugely better than the one we use at QPR.
Trying to pick Marti's team this week is going to be even more difficult than normal because there's little information on who's fit. QPR fan, Chris Mepham will be Sunderland's centre back on Saturday and it will be pointless playing the static Celar up against him because he will just put him in his pocket and have a lazy afternoon. However, I fear that Marti will want to justify his Slovenian signing and will stick with Celar. Whoever, plays up front they will need some support from midfield and I could see Madsen returning to play a more attacking role.
Choosing between Fox and Ashby for the left back role is difficult because neither has shone in that position but after Ashby helped us keep a clean sheet last week I'll stick with him.

Thanks guys - We've had a lot of Sunderland fans watching this week and it sounds like Loftus Road will have pockets of Sunderland fans in the home end. They reckon they could have sold 5000 and a number are openly stating they are in the Bhatia Stand, Lower School etc.
As for the line up I just can't see him dropping Smyth because of his defensive workrate, which we need against Sunderland's excellent wingers.
I actually think it could/should be the same starting 11 as Burnley barring any injuries.
As I noted in the show though it was apparent that Cook, Clarke-Salter, Smyth and Varane all looked uncomfortable at times at Burnley and one or more of them missing out with injury would not come as a huge shock.
