First one of 2018
A happy new year to you all and a new QPR was going to tear up the league and secure mid table position before the season ends
Well that's what I thought after our amazing 2-1 win against Cardiff on New Year's Day, we unleashed some of our youngsters which I thought was Holloways last throw of the dice, but it worked and we found our new Charlie Austin in the young Irish lad Smyth who on his debut scored a goal and had a very good game by all accounts.
The other lads did well too and some faded as the game went but that's to be expected.
Players like Smyth can't be expected to be our saviour but it shows we have a lot of potential and maybe something Holloway got right this season.
Next up was our FA Cup game on the back of a great result the game before, but we played like a Sunday league team and let a very average MK dons beat us 1-0 so we have the honour of having the worst record in the FA cup 3rd round.
20 years since we've had a straight forward journey to the fourth round of the FA cup.
If you've got a spare penny next year put it on us losing in the 3rd round of the FA cup, if I had one I'd put my mortgage on it!
Next up a big 6 pointer against a shocking Burton team...lose and we're heading towards the bottom 3... but we got the big win and young Oteh got off the mark.
Ollie you are not as bad as I thought - a second away win which I don't say very often against a team around us.
I felt for the first time very positive and thought we'd turned a corner. A game against Pulis' Boro side was next...
I honestly thought we'd get at least a draw, but we were totally outplayed and got what we deserved a 3-0 loss.
We can't just keep punting it to Smith and hope we can get back into the game, it doesn't work - not against a physical big Boro side. We were awful and clueless at times.
Now we had a chance to put the Boro result to bed and beat a Bristol city side who played a huge game midweek against the best team in the country Man City.
We then put on our worst performance of the season and get brushed aside 2-0 against 10 men... yes 10 men who played midweek!
We didn't score again and yet again route one up to Smith and the whole world knows how we play by now.
We are 7 points clear of bottom 3 but based on last two games and I can honestly see us getting sucked back in again.
We wont get any new faces by the look of it and I don't think any would make much difference; we have good individual players but they just don't work together, we are so unbalanced and Holloway must know that we don't click added to our lack goals and we can't defend lately.
If we get offers for players like Freeman then sell as they don't gel in our team and the way Holloway wants them to play.
Deadline day is looming and it will be interesting to see who comes and goes. All I know is that February is a very important month and I just hope we don't drop down the table any further...
I will add to this if anything happens in next 2 or 3 days
