The January 2017 transfer window has now closed and we managed to get 11 players out the door without bringing anybody in. None of the players that left were really threatening to to get into he first team so it looks really good business to me. The most interesting thing for me were the comments made by Sir Les that our scouts were doing a great job and that 'they've watched over 600 or 700 games already this season and they've been all over the place watching these games, not just in this country but abroad as well. We're doing our homework' he said.
Having watched all those games you would hope they have spotted some affordable decent defenders and a goalscorer that we are all ready to sign on 01/08/2018. However, I won't hold my breath.
Yes that does sound positive stoatey and can only hope that words can be translated into deeds come the next window! I do hope in the interim that one of the defender slots could be filled with confidence by an EDS players and perhaps one of them could also stake a real claim to a striker's role too (probably Smyth). We will probably still need players with more experience as well though, so the scouts should still keep scouting!
One interesting fact on this transfer window: QPR did not attract any loan players from a PL-side - why? If I had a budding striker in my PL side that needed regular run outs until the end of the season to improve him then I would have been looking for a club desperate for a striker....
