Robinson has been our best defender by far this season and I would rather we resigned him than Onuhoa. Maybe the club are looking to ensure they are a Championship team for next season before making any decisions. It's a risky move if they are leaving things until safety is assured but in view of previous player contract decisions maybe it's an understandable one. I would prefer we get him to sign an extension with a wage clause based on the league we are in but should the unthinkable happen then we should also allow him to leave if we are playing in a lower league next season.
For me, Robinson's quote about wanting to stay but not having any contact just about sums the club up! It is amazing that they have not spoken to him yet. I understand about all the so-called money issues and wanting to get wages down, etc, but there is no excuse for not speaking to the lad and telling him the situation! For example, if they are waiting for contracts to end (Perch, Onouha, Mackie & JET are all due!), then why haven't they at least said to him that they want him to stay, and will be able to offer him £x amount when certain players depart, etc?!!
Something stinks, its not even if they can get any money for him! We are going to end up losing the best defender we have, and getting nothing in return moneywise. Will probably replace him with a 'Free' in the summer or another youngster from League 1 or 2! The club appear to have no business sense with transfers, continually wasting money on players who have no desire to play, or selling our better ones for a lot less than they are worth - we were offered 'big' money for Austin & Phillis before they left for a lot less further down the line! I hope I'm wrong, but the club do nothing to allay our fears!
Bottom line is that Robinson will only want to stay if there is no better offer for him. He is a really good player and I want to keep him, but he must have ambitions and would be tempted by an offer from a top Championship side (such as Fulham) or even the (feint) chance of starting each Saturday with a PL side. Be prepared to wave as he departs and start looking for a clone!

The only explanation I can come up with is they can only afford to keep one of Onuoha and Robinson, they want to keep Onuoha and are therefore waiting a decision on his deal before moving to Robinson.
Could be wrong but as I say it is the only reason I can think why we wouldn't have offered Robinson a deal yet.
He may simply be on to much money for us, we could of said to his agent, he is on X buy Y is the most we can offer and the agent said dont bother offering? I dont think we have enough information here to suggest we are doing something wrong as a club for not getting him a new contract sooner.
When will we get info from DOF this is his area. I thought a few weeks ago negotiations were underway with him and the chief.
I think this has a lot to do with his agent getting Jack to make statements to put pressure on us giving him a better contract. I really hope the our DOF and Owners are on the case otherwise we are about to lose quite possibly our best defender for nothing and without a fight. (or that might be the plan as part of the ongoing cost reductions?)
It may be his agent CHAD. Even more reason why the DOF should comment.
Could it be that the club are treating internal negotiations the same way as they treat dealing with other clubs? Since Lee Hoos' arrival there has been a lot more secrecy about players they were seriously chasing, so perhaps they regard contract extensions the same way...?
Kingfisher If that's were the case why would ROBINSON comment in such terms.
If that is happening Pamm (and I do not know if that is so) then it could well be as Surrey Chad was saying - Robbo's agent is playing games. I suspect we will never know what has happened....
He becomes an attractive target for other teams. Because he is a free agent. Which means they can offer him a signing on fee or decent wage. We have taken the right attitude towards him. We need to plan if he is going.
