Two more games and two more losses, which always make this a slightly more depressing read, but here we go!

BOOKINGS

The only card we've picked up over the last couple of games wwas for Josh Scowen against Forest which takes him to 6 for the season.

GOALS

Freemans goal may not have been enough tp get us anything at Bramall lane, but it was enough to move him level with Mackie and Sylla on 4 for the season. Luongo remains just behind on 3 for the season after his goal against Forest and Smith moves on to 8 for the season.

GOAL TIMES

Goals from Freeman (63rd minute) and Luongo (68th minute) means we're now up to 8 goals for midway through the second half, whilst Smith (78th minute) scored our 13th goal of the closing stages for the season. Sheffield United scored midway through the first half to put us up to 6 goals conceded here, and again just after Half Time for yet another goal just after the break. We won't discuss Forest.

APPEARANCES

Ever present Smithies is up to 34 appearances for the season, whilst Luongo made his 30th against Forest. Bidwell, Freeman and Scowen all remain just 1 behind the leader on 33 games for the season.

OTHER STATS

We're just short of 500 shots for the season and findlly over 150 on target (I won't go on about that being poor again). We still trail on corners and have committed more fouls

MATCH OUTCOMES

Two losses in the past two games puts us on to 15 for the season, making up 44% of our season so far.

I am a QPR fan for life, sometimes happily!

After our 4 points from 2 home games against DERBY and SUNDERLAND we are still 16th.

However:

We are now 13 points clear of the bottom 3.

We are even 11 points clear of Barnsley who are 4th from bottom.

We are safe. It doesn't even need to be a conversation any longer really. We pretty much have to lose every game and have teams below us find promotion form for us to get sucked back in.

Reading, Hull and Bolton will still be nervous but we really have no reason to sweat as the above shows. So if we lose the next 2 games, which is no disaster given the opposition we will face in Villa and Fulham, no histrionics please!

As ever northwesthoop, an interesting post. Even more interesting for me as I have just returned from a month away when I have only been able to read the results. So looking at that 28 elapsed days: What has changed in regard to QPR's fortunes?

Well there have been 4 matches played since and:

1. QPR were 15th on 36 points - now 16th on 43 points; and 7 goals scored but 8 goals conceded (mostly courtesy of Florist).
2. We were 8 off Relegation & 18 off the Top 6; and are now 13 off Relegation & 18 off the Top 6.
3. The major injury list remains unchanged - in other words we have had the same player pool available for the last 28 days

It is obvious that we have slipped as far as chasing the Top 6 teams, and in fact we have a gap above us. We have moved though away from those in relegation woes but I would suggest that this has been more a question of the bottom teams playing worse, rather than QPR playing better. After 10 games I posted an extrapolation (based upon points achieved so far) of 60 points. Looking at the remaining games I feel we are probably heading for a final tally of 52 points, which is indicative of how we have played this season. The truth is that even with a fully functioning defence we are still not converting draws into wins or scoring enough. There will be an overhaul of the squad and, excluding those related to PL-level wages, the attacking 'force' will bear the brunt!

Definitely kingfisher our position of safety is down to how poor the other teams are below us.

The points situation confirms that, we may end up with less points than last season but be miles clear of the bottom 3, unlike last season when we were lucky not to go down in the end

The surprise win at Villa moves us up a place to 15th.

We haven't been higher than 15th for 22 matches so this may be as good as it gets!

We are now closer to the play offs than the relegation zone - we are as mid-table as it gets really!

One thing for sure is we are not going down, we are 16 points clear of the bottom 3. To catch us it would mean the teams in the bottom 3 picking up more than 50% of their current points totals from 37 games in just 9 games. And that is without us picking up any more points.

A great win over Villa and we can just enjoy the remaining 9 games. Odds are we will finish between 13th and 16th.

I think we can add Mackie and Sylla to that list too kingfisher, I imagine they will both get some game time before the end of the season. Not easy for Holloway really!

I'm not sure whether I would prefer him to keep playing his strongest team to finish as high as we can, rack up some wins and go into next season with some real confidence!

The comeback draw with Fulham leaves us 15th

Our gap over the bottom 3 has been cut slightly to 14 points but given our upturn in form and the limited points left available to those below us that is not a concern now.

We do now have a real chance of finishing in the top half...

We are only 5 points away from Ipswich who currently occupy 12th
