I know this debate divides opinion but I hate fans going on any pitch.
It must ruin the moment for players when they win the league or something and instead of celebrating with their teammates they are getting slapped on the head and jumped on by fans.
The players get lost amongst the crowd so those who do stay in their seats cannot see them.
A fine for anybody going on the pitch rather than the club may get rid of this nonsense.
We all stayed in our seats at Wembley and had the best footballing time of our lives. It is just something that doesn't NEED to happen.
Plus invading the pitch when we finish 15th is actually just cringy.
I suspect the groundspersons will not be the first on the pitch! They must watch the pitch invasions with horror, thinking of the damage to be repaired!!
The club needs to make frequent announcements before and during the match, warning of the consequences for the club of any pitch invasion. Some extra stewards would not go amiss either! Can the club ask for unpaid volunteers without insurance or other liability issues?
Normally I’m all for a pitch invasion at the end of the season if a team has won something (or if it’s a totally pointless tradition like with us) but this season I’d say no to it as invasions have caused so much bother this season (like with Wigan and West Ham)
There’s an easy way to avoid it, the club should just come out and say that they’ll have cameras all around the place tomorrow, and if anyone is caught invading then they risk being banned from buying tickets/season tickets at all for next season (or would that be classed as a reward rather than a punishment?)
