Welcome to Dream R’s for 2018/19! This is our very own Fantasy Football / Dream Team game based around QPR. Remember Fantasy Rangers on QPRnet? Well this is the same thing. You are tasked with picking a Dream Team of eleven QPR players whilst remaining within a set budget of 40 points and you will score points based on how those players perform over the coming season.
It is FREE to play and we’ll offer a QPR prize to the winner if we have over 60 players.
Prizes for the top 3 if we get over 100 players? Keep the entries coming!
You can either enter your team now based on the current squad or hold off to see who we may be adding to the squad before the season starts. Either way the deadline closes before the new season starts this year. Any new players we sign will be added to the available players up to the entry deadline on 3rd August 2018. Anybody signed after that will be available in the Dream R’s January transfer window.
You need to register to the site to enter the game so we can give updates, verify your entry and of course be in touch if you win. So if you aren’t already registered it will literally take you 1 minute by clicking here:
Register for Hoops & Dreams/Dream R's
You will then be able to enter the Dream R’s section of the site where the entry form is held here: Entry Form
You need your Hoops & Dreams username and the email address you used to register to our site on the Dream R’s entry form.
Anyway, here is a further overview including the rules of Dream R’s, including how it works, the rules and how to pick your team.
Game Details
Dream R’s is a “fantasy football” type game based around Queens Park Rangers football club. Your job as manager is to pick the best QPR side you can within an allowed budget of 40 points – your Dream R’s.
You must pick a team of eleven QPR players to represent your team and their real life performances will generate their Dream R’s scores. The person at the end of the season with the highest points total will be deemed the Dream R’s champion.
Picking Your Squad
You must pick a team of eleven QPR players within a 40 point budget.
Here comes your first decision as manager of your Dream R’s – which formation to pick...
You have 2 choices... 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, that gamble is down to you
So you’ll either have 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 strikers or 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers to choose.
Please note that the players' positions are for the purpose of the game only, for example, if Grant Hall plays a game in midfield he will still score points as a defender (see “Scoring Points” below).
Each QPR squad member has been assigned a rating from 1 to 5; this is their 'Dream R’s value’. Your eleven players total Dream R’s values must not exceed your allocated “spending” budget of 40 Dream R’s points.
The players’ Dream R’s value is specified in the "value" column. For example, new boy Toni Leistner will cost 4 of your 40 Dream R’s points to buy. The full squad listing, including the applicable positions and Dream R’s value is as follows:

As mentioned any new signings made by QPR before the entry deadline will be added to the list of available players.
Scoring Points
You earn or lose points based on what actually happens to the players throughout QPR’s season. All competitions count; The Championship including any possible Play-Offs (wishful thinking), FA Cup, and League Cup (if we are still in it).
There are 3 rule changes for 2018/19:
1) There is no captains double like we had last season. You still need to choose a captain and vice captain (more on this shortly) but their combined score will be used for goal difference only. You cannot trade your captain or vice captain during the transfer window so they are still vital members of your Dream R’s squad.
2) Midfielders influence the team at both ends of the pitch and that will now be reflected in the scoring. Midfielders will gain 1 point for a team goal scored and lose 1 point for a team goal conceded. So if QPR win 2-1 midfielders would gain 2 points and lose 1 leaving them +1 overall.
3) A clean sheet will be worth 6 points, up from 5 points last season
Here is the full breakdown of how players score Dream R's points:
First Team Start
+ 10 Points
Substitute Appearance
+ 5 points
Goal Scored
+ 5 Points
Hat-trick
+ 10 Bonus Points (plus the 15 points for the three goals so 25 total)
Yellow Card
-2 Points
Red Card (2 yellows)
-5 Points
Straight Red Card
-10 points
Midfielders Only:
Team Goal Scored
+ 1 point
Team Goal Conceded
- 1 Point
Your Goalkeeper and Defenders earn and lose points based on goals conceded as follows:
Clean Sheet
+ 6 Points
Every Goal Conceded
- 2 Points
Be aware that if a player makes an appearance at any point of a match he scores as if he had played the full game. Therefore if your defender is taken off he will still lose points for any goals conceded after he leaves the pitch, conversely he will earn points for clean sheets as if he was still playing. This rule also works the same if a player comes onto the pitch, they will be penalised for goals conceded before they came on.
Example: if Joel Lynch comes on in the 87th minute and we win 2-0 he would score 5 points for his substitute appearance plus 6 points for the clear sheet = 11
However, if he comes on in the 87th minute, gets booked and we lose 3-0 he would score -3 (5 points for sub appearance but then -6 for 3 goals conceded in the game and -2 for the yellow card)
Points awarded for goals scored or points lost for red cards will not be adjusted if these decisions are overturned at a later date.
Players continue to gain or lose points as appropriate throughout any periods of extra time that QPR may play during cup or play off competitions. Penalty shoot outs however do not count for point scoring.
It goes without saying, but a player who does not feature in a match scores zero points.
Loyalty Captain & Vice Captain = Goal Difference
You are required to pick a ‘captain’ and ‘vice captain’ as key men for your Dream R’s team. As mentioned above they no longer score double points but who you choose is still a crucial decision for your team...
Whichever of your players you name as your main skipper and vice captain you must be loyal to and you will not be able to transfer either of them out of your team when the transfer window opens; that is the gamble on who to pick! The score of your captain and vice captain will be added together and this will be used as a sort of ‘goal difference’ if two or more Dream R’s players scores are tied on the leader board.
So if for example your captains score is 500 over the season and your vice captain scores 400 for the season your ‘goal difference’ would be 900. The higher the better. If you had a tied game score with another player then the player with the higher score from their captain and vice captain combined will place higher. More simple than it sounds I assure you, if in doubt just pick the 2 players that you think will score you the most points!
Transfers
Speaking of the transfers... just like real life there will be one transfer window in the season, giving you the chance to refresh your squad, replace your underachievers and bring in some new blood.
The transfer window will open for a week or two sometime towards the close of the January window to give you opportunity to change three of your team for new faces. But not your captain or vice captain of course! Nevertheless, you’ll have 9 players up for the chop provided you stay within the 40 point Dream R’s budget.
The exact dates of the window will be announced nearer the time to fit in with fixture gaps. This will be announced on Hoops & Dreams in the Dream R’s section.
Winner
The winner will be the person who at the end of the season (determined by the last competitive game QPR play in) who has accumulated the highest total of Dream R’s points.
If for any reason this score is drawn between one or more players the winner is decided by the ‘goal difference’ of the combined score of your captain and vice captain.
If it is still drawn after that the winner will then be decided by the team with the best defence (the total score of your 4 defenders compared to another player). If it is still all square after all of that it will simply be a tie!
Prizes
The main prize will always be the pride of winning of course! But as mentioned in the introduction, if we can get more than 60 Dream R’s players there will be a QPR related prize for the winner of the competition. If we get over 100 players then the top 3 will each bag a QPR prize.
Updates
The Dream R’s section on the site will be updated at least once a month to include current league standings, but usually more frequently every couple of matches! Updates will be published in the Dream R’s section on Hoops & Dreams
