In only nine more days we will know Steve McClaren's preferred starting eleven, but until then you have a chance to suggest what it could be! To kick this off Phil Spencer, who knows the club well, has put together his thoughts on who will be playing against Preston:

I'd go say he will go with:
Ingram
Baptiste Leistner Lynch/(Sainsbury) Bidwell
Scowen Luongo
Freeman Eze Washington
Smith
Sainsbury definitely over Lynch if he does join. Lynch if not.
Personally I'd have Smyth over Washington but I fancy McClaren will go with Washington first match.
Also fancy he will choose Baptiste over Kakay if Baptiste is fit as it is a tough away game at one of Baptiste's old clubs. He will want the more experienced heads if available.
But for the first game I would be a little more conservative with
Manning partnering Scowen as DM's
And move Luongo a little further forward
We can keep Eze to come on as an impact player when players are getting tiered in there first game back.
I cant wait for it to get started again
Very good point actually, looking at it now I prefer that side for an away game with a bit of a tighter midfield. Eze will roam and may be more suited to home games.
Ok you have all had a chance to select your starting eleven, so here is mine (and why):
Ingram
Baptiste Leistner Sainsbury/Lynch Bidwell Lynch will almost certainly start against Preston as any deal involving Sainsbury will now complete too late.
Luongo Scowen Manning I have included Manning, at the expense of Freeman, because I feel he will add the more defensive support needed against Preston
Smyth Smith Osayi-Samuel I also decided against Eze, because of Preston's more physical play, and for that reason chose O-Samuel instead. I have not been a fan in the past but he has done well in pre-season play, and I feel he will offer more on the wings to get the ball up to Smyth & Smith.
