We will agree to sell freeman if 3 million price is met Absolutely ridiculous, one of our more creative players too Still no sign of any more signings and we're buggered if we get any injuries or suspensions It's a massive gamble saying we can stick with what we got And nothing to come in January either We have good players but they are mostly young and inexperienced in this tough league

I'm not quite as concerned. Freeman is a good player but that is where it stops. Good player. He isn't indispensable. Personally I feel he can blow hot and cold, can be a bit greedy and a lot of his assists come from corners and due to Smith's ability in the air.
We should be looking for top dollar for any of our players and I'd want more for Freeman but we have to start to acknowledge that this (improving players then selling them) is going to happen time and time again. It has to for the club to survive.
We bought Freeman for £250,000 and could sell him for £3 million 18 months later. That is still good business even if we all think the fee is ridiculous.
We need to be like Southampton were a few years ago - selling our best players but finding another player to come in to replace them, help them progress and sell them for a bigger fee too down the line.
If Freeman does leave we have Wheeler, Smyth, Chair, Manning and Cousins who could replace him out wide or in the middle.
It is all well and good Tony saying that but he is for sale at the right price. Like every player is.
It will make Tony look stupid now if somebody comes along with £6 million and we do sell him! He should just stay quiet sometimes, let the rumours blow over.
When managers and chairman say that a player is not for sale it is sometimes fact and sometimes a signal that you need to bid high to get him. The only way they look stupid is if the player is then sold cheaply. Hopefully this won't happen in this case if 3 clubs are genuinely interested.

Exactly my thoughts! I would not be unhappy if we sold him for £5m - £6m, even though some other transfers are attracting higher rates in the Championship, because he is replaceable. The midfield is the one area we have good alternatives waiting for their chance...
Yet more smoke and mirrors from TF. One week he is telling us that our future MO is to bring players in and develop them before selling them on at a profit. When TF tweets that Freeman is not for sale he is just trying to get Boro, WBA and any other club to up their bid! TF knows if we sell Freeman we have to give 15% of the fee to Bristol City so he wants a bid of £3.5m plus to ensure we clear £3m on the deal. It's all about the money and this is TF's way of upping the bidding. The trouble for TF is that if he does sell the player then only a huge bid would now appease the fans after he has said that Freeman is not for sale.
What about the number 5 shirt? This still needs to be filled, doesn't it?
I suspect that if we don't get anybody permanent in by next Thursday then they will try and get somebody on loan. Some of the Premiership clubs have huge squads and some of their players will have little or no chance of getting into the first team and will want to go out on loan just to get a game. I wouldn't suggest that we could get or even afford the wages of a Man City player but they have several central defenders and only 2 will get into Peps 1st team. When you think that they have to pick 2 from Stones, Laporte, Otemendi and Kompany then at least one of them probably won't even make the bench. The way that TF likes to work these days I'm sure that the loan is something is considering.

It would seem more likely for players out on loan from top Premier sides to go to a lower Premier side, purely because they are the only ones getting enough from Sky to pay the inflated wages. Having said that, perhaps we will get a lower Premier League defender and/or striker; or another 'problem child' like Ravel Morrison?

Somebody like Jan Bednarek at Southampton would be the ideal choice. He is a developing central defender who played for Poland in the recent World Cup but is probably down the Southampton pecking order. Farming him out to a club like QPR would benifit both clubs. They did a similar deal last year and loaned Matt Target out to Fulham. However, like all these deals it will depend on the money.
