Assuming they both join that gives us 6 strikers for 1 spot in the current formation
Hemed Wells Smith Sylla Washington Smyth
Even if we move to 2 up front you'd still have to assume that 1 or 2 of Sylla, Washington and Smyth will be leaving on loan to compensate for those coming in.
One point I would like to make regarding strikers: McClaren has stated that not replacing quality players was a major reason for the sh*t start to this season. Now we have secured two strikers that he must have wanted, so no more excuses on that front!
We now have 2 strikers other teams will fear if wells signs too Not just Sylla and Washington who are just too easy to contain and easy pickings for defenders The way our defence is we may have to score a few to get any points so they will fit the bill Getting new players shows the board are backing McClaren in my opinion, and he's probably told them he will Turn it round once he's got the right players
As long as we do not expect to much to soon. The manager is not to blame for the squad we have. For two years we have been poor at the back and likewise up front. That's the fault of the recruitment.

The fact that we have got Hemed and Wells for the season almost certainly means they will be the front two.
I see Smith and Washington on the bench.
Wycombe did a great job with Eze last year and I think that if we could get a loan deal for Smyth at the same club it would be beneficial for both him and them.
I think Sylla has had enough chances and if we could get him a loan back to a team in France it would be another win win.
I'm excited about the new strikers But we still haven't addressed our issues at the back 10 goals in 2 games its obvious we need to sort our defence out too I hope they now are going to address our other weak area and probably the most important one No point getting goal scorers if we keep letting goals in
Since 2016 SYLLA has played just 55 games and scored 17. So has hardly been used . Has roughly a goal every 3 games. And WASHINGTON since 2016 88 games 13 goals.
Sylla is an anomaly, I often find myself laughing at him on the pitch. I just personally find him too inconsistent. He is also often totally anonymous and can at times look like he has never played football in his life!
There was a period last season where he played in 18 out of 21 games in a row (including 6 starts in a row). So he has had a chance, he is just too inconsistent to take his chances and then drops out of the team because he hasn't done enough to warrant staying in it.
Maybe it feels like he didn't get a chance because we forget he had these chances because he didn't take them! He has played over 60 times for QPR... if he was good enough he'd be a mainstay in the side by now.
I am with NorthWestHoop on this topic. Whilst Washington is a busted flush as far as I am concerned, Sylla is not that far behind. When the chips are down he has failed to deliver. Like Eze he seems to shy away from challenges on defensive duty and then does what he should for the next 10 minutes (only) - inconsistent! Yesterday we saw Hemed and Smith back in the heart of the defence fighting very hard to maintain our clean sheet, whilst Scowen and Wells/Washington waited on the edge of the area to assist. I respect that.
