Most important player to keep is leistner Our defence needs to be based around him Freeman won’t stay with us and our board know his sale is all the money we are just about going to get to use on everything

Leistner is our main central defender and depending on what they decide with Hall he could be the only experienced centre back. Hall's injury record is not good and I think he will be released.
Furlong will play a key role next season because he is the only defender that seems to be able to play as a centre back or in his preferred role as a wing back.
As things stand our back four would be Rangel, Leistner, Furlong and Manning. A defensive line that is very slow, not very balanced and with 3 of the players that are not even 6 ft. Our back up should any of these get injured is Kakay, Hamalinan and Giles Phillips. Not overly inspiring yet but let's see who we get in.
I agree with most of the comments on here. I'm a bit surprised about Bidwell and like Pawel but am not surprised that he's going. This is really in line with Warburton's interview - a small squad focussing on youth. I don't have a problem with that but we desperately need some reinforcements in defence. That has to be top priority. That is much more urgent than up front where we have Smith, Oteh, Smyth, BOS, Eze and Chair. None of those are going to be prolific but it's certainly no worse than Smith, Sylla & Washington and we survived ok with that 3. I still think that we are in danger of relegation next year but this might just click and we could do better than expected.
Derby got a decent striker Marriott that came from Ipswich We surely can find a decent striker from somewhere But defence is essential and trying to keep Freeman is priority

Marriot started off at Ipswich but had several loan moves before being signed by Luton. His scoring record during this period was about 1 goal every 3.25 games.
He left Luton and joined Peterborogh for one season where he sored 33 goals in 56 matches, effectively 1 goal every 1.7 games.
In July 2018 he moved to Derby and has scored 12 goals in 42 games., 1 goal every 3.5 games.
Like Conor Washington it appears that Marriot had a bit of a purple patch at Peterborough but outside of that one season his goal scoring record is not overly prolific. Hopefully we can find a striker who is consistently scoring goals season after season. They are out there and I have mentioned a couple of them elsewhere on this site.Lets hope our scouts read some of our posts.
Have to say Lampard got two brilliant loan signings with Wilson and mount Both youngsters from premier league clubs Why can’t we pick up gems like that, they as good as got Derby to a play off final

I think this is the issue that most vexes me - why are QPR not involved in taking on loan development players from PL sides? Is it because we are seen as not nurturing such talent or is it because we do not sound out those clubs? All we do seem to get are the problem children.....

I suspect that because McClarens remit was to develop our own youngsters he took the decision to bring in more experience players that he thought would assist in developing the likes of Eze etc. Whether bringing in Hemed, Wells and Cameron was the right decision and whether our younger players benefited is open to debate.
Derby had a more experienced team and bringing in the likes of Wilson and Mount has complimented their set up.
It would have been great to get Wilson and Mount on loan but if we had I suspect Eze wouldn't have got a game.
I presume that because there has been no announcement on Hall leaving when his contract finishes on 31/5 that he has agreed an extension for at least another year.
Based on his recent injury record he seems a bit of a liability and I would hope that if he has agreed an extension it's based on a pay as you play scenario.

Apparently Hall has implemented an extra year clause he had in his contract. Why we included that to begin with god only knows. He's proven to be unreliable now for 2 seasons and we are effectively 'stuck' with him for another year now.

I can only hope that he has a season that proves his ability (and delights us)! One good thing in his favour is his ability to move with the ball and pass it well. This is Warburton is looking for. After that all (?) he needs to do is stay fit and injury-free.....
