The penultimate match of Phase 1 of the season has taken place so let's see how things look with a solitary game left to grab points...
minxymartin is on a hell of a run; now getting the score correct in 3 of the last 4 games having been the only player who went for 3-0 to QPR over Sheffield Wednesday, impressive!
QPRsmith, surrey chad and Rosco Bosco got Hemed as first scorer so were all cheering extra loud when he nodded home!
stoatey, MaxQPR, QPRBex, MCM Hoop, ashqpr, Rosco Bosco and myself all got the 31-45 first goal time
pamment8, singlespeed, SydneyR, e17hoop, QPRBex, Rosco Bosco and MaxQPR got the Birmingham 2-1 bonus match win exact
The recurring name there was Rosco Bosco who picked up 12 points. I said in the last update he was in danger of the drop and needed big points quickly and he delivered. From 8 points from safety that gap is down to 3. What hasn't helped Rosco is QPRBex picking up 9 points and that has made it a quite sensational end to Phase 1 in Division 1... QPRBex moves from looking over his shoulder in 8th to 3rd and in doing so effectively embroils all the other players in the dogfight. We have only 2 points between 6 players!
ranger-boy is not officially down but is 15 points from safety so looks unlikely to maintain his place at the top table.
kingfisher was the leader in the top tier but somehow forgot to enter and drops to 2nd behind LurkR. Both however are safe and look set for the big points bonuses for the start of Phase 2.
e17hoop has scored in all 14 games but has still not scored more than 6 and could quite easily go down sitting just 4 points above the bottom 2. Even reigning champion Ghost has dropped from 3rd to 7th and is now in real peril. Rosco Bosco though will have to score in the final match.
In Division 2 it is just as tight in the promotion race....
That said, SydneyR is effectively up. There is no way 3 players will score double points and overtake him.
The fight is in behind where 1 point separates minxymartin, surrey chad, savoyhoop and MaxQPR. minxymartin and surrey chad currently occupy the 2 remaining promotion spots - surrey chad only on goal difference. pamment8 has a good goal difference in behind that pack and with a good score next time out could easily go up.
QPRsmith bagged another 10 points to make it a quite sensational 29 points in 3 games and he is out of the bottom 3. He could still get promotion but it would take a big score and a strange set of point collection elsewhere to make that happen. You never know, technically anybody in Division 2 could still go up.
