Post Bristol City
I thought this stats update post Bristol City was worthy of it's own thread as their are quite a few points of discussion and some analysis/comparisons to have a look at below:
The defeat at Bristol City was our 5th league defeat in a row and 7th league match without a win.
That of course means we remain without a win or clean sheet in the league in 2019.
We had only lost 5 out of 22 games prior to this run of 5 defeats from 5. We truly are a bizarre club!
The last time we went 7 league games without a win was in September/October 2017 - a run which included 5 draws so not as bad as this current run. We broke that sequence by beating top of the table Wolves then top of the table Sheffield United within 4 days, so despite tricky fixtures ahead you just never know with QPR.
We drop to all the way down to 18th now that this round of midweek fixtures is complete - a further fall of 3 places since the weekend. That makes it a drop of 10 places in 6 games since we were 8th. Only at QPR! It makes for a rather horrific looking position tracker right now:
Tomer Hemed returned to league action for the first time since the start of December and of course tasted defeat. He still hasn't started a league game since October.
Jake Bidwell and Luke Freeman remain the only players with 100% league appearance records.
He may have only come on for the dying minutes but Bright Osayi-Samuel has now only tasted victory once in his 12 league appearances, with 83% of his appearances ending in defeats.
There is also an increasing argument that we are missing Angel Rangel. I'm a big fan of Darnell Furlong but we are losing 55% of the matches since he returned. Rangel's defeat record is only 29%. We also won 47% of the games Rangel played whereas Furlong is only at 27% wins.
Likewise we have lost half the amount of games when Cameron appears (23%) than when Scowen plays (46%).
They are certainly big losses. Stats like that surely don't lie.

- We now have 12 point deficit to the play offs but still have a large buffer over the bottom 3 of 11 points. Despite falling so far down the table we are as stuck in the middle as they come really in points terms due to how far behind the group of teams at the bottom are and realistically we only have the FA Cup to play for, and to get excited about now.
- We are at the 2/3 of the season gone mark with 15 games remaining in 2018/19. In the last 15 games we have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 7...... If we were to repeat that (which may appear a best case scenario right now) over the remaining 15 games we'd end the season on 55 points. Last season we finished on 56 points by comparison so we look set for a 3rd season in a row finishing in a very similar position unless we can really turn our form around.
- QPR currently have 39 points. The safety margin last season was 42 points when the bottom group of sides were incredibly poor. It is the same this season with a really poor group of sides at the very bottom. After 31 games last season Barnsley were 3rd bottom with 28 points. They ended in the same place going down on 41 points. Reading in that place currently have 26 points which is 2 less than what Barnsley had so even allowing for an upturn in their form (and the teams around them) we'd have to lose pretty much every single game to get relegated. It is just a shame a season that promised so much 8 games ago has dwindled into nothing.
