A big game this will show how far we’ve come Problem is I see us having no chance if we leave any holes at the back as they will exploit that if we do make errors Phillips runs riot down the wing every single time he comes to us,we never learn,we do however have goalscorers which we will need to be lethal when given the chance for us to stand a chance They let in goals too but they have a habit of coming back, hence why they are unbeaten so far We can win this but I think they will pounce on any mistake and the ex QPR players will be right up for this Furlong looks a totally different player in a West Brom shirt too Do we try and keep it tight or do we play a open high scoring game West Brom seem to be a bogey team and they know we will be twitchy on the day and it being live too don’t help A draw would be a great result but I can’t see us getting much if we show them too much respect

That is quite a 'mind-dump' @singlespeed! I think we do have to treat them with respect, as they will certainly do us; and it is certainly true that both sides are scoring above average but letting in too many at the other end. This will be a tightly fought game and I have predicted a draw - but it will not be a 0-0 draw for sure! If we draw then that is a great marker, and if we win..... COYRs!!!!
btw Both Wallace & BOS have been passed fit and it is thought the former will appear on the bench.
If we can stop Phillips then we have a chance He is seen as provider and gets some himself We will be right up for it and we have 2 confident strikers especially wells at the moment West Brom we’re on the back foot against p£ss poor Huddersfield on Sunday but they gave West Brom too much respect when they equalised Furlong is also a player we know and is another provider for players like Austin to latch on to There is not a lot of difference between the 2 sides to be fair

Really excited for this match. They say to wait 10 games before looking where the season may be heading and after Saturday we will be 9 games there. Should we win and sit top (even just for a few hours) we have to start thinking that top 6 has to be the target this season. There is nothing to really fear in this league. If we lose, no panic, West Brom are a good team and we have 2 more games ahead next week.
As you say northwest a loss isn’t a disaster Last week at the new den,a place we never win at,was a bonus 3 points in my opinion West Brom are good but how amazing would it be if we win and on our day we can beat anyone as we know A massive game for both teams but certainly not a 6 pointer as there’s plenty more to play for
Good to hear that Wallace and BOS have both been declared as fit and available for selection. Can't see either starting but they should both make the bench.
Grant Hall is still injured and unlikely to make the squad.
West Brom will be as nervous us we are This game could be the start of a promotion push for either team It’s got draw written all over it according to the pundits We should just play how we have been shut Phillips out of the game and keep it tight as an open game could leave holes at the back

Would it be right to think that Masterson is not intended to feature as a CB this season? Is he an intended replacement for Leistner or Hall next season? He is short, at 1.85m, for a CB so I am assuming his attributes centre around his ball-playing?

Masterson could have benefited from some games in the cup but he never even got a chance in those 2 games. He is obviously being told to prove himself with the U23's and if he does get a chance in the first team he will need to take it with both hands. He just turned 21 so is the same age as Eze and Chair.
If Hall is out tomorrow there is no way Warburton will play Masterson over Cameron in such a big game. I would guess we will line up with the same 11 as last week.

I cannot see Cameron being overlooked either, and it must be the same starting eleven - surely...?

Good to see Wallace for the first time and also BOS on the bench. Mlakar drops out of the squad.
West Brom look very strong on paper, should be a superb match. I'll be behind time watching this so let's hope when we reconvene we are all celebrating being top of the league!

I am approaching this top=level clash with remarkable calm. If we lose then I know we will have played good football; if we draw then I that is what i predicted; and if we win.....
Half Time and, as is often the case, it has been a scrappy affair as two similar sides try to dominate play. We need to watch the fouls in the second half as we now have 2 yellows against our defence. Austin, Phillips and Furlong are showing their class, but we can do this!

Does anyone else think Barbet was pushed by Robson-Kanau, who then dived? Robson-Kanau has repeatedly got away with shirt-tugs!
OK, well the run had to end somewhere and better to have been against a side that should make automatic promotion, rather than a bogey side, and given the transfer value of the Baggies squad versus ours, we cannot grumble too much!

We just never got going. Simple as that.
West Brom were incredibly solid whilst we had too many players having an off day, Eze's little turns and flicks just weren't coming off, Wells and Hugill didn't click today, Kane and Manning weren't able to produce anything in the West Brom half, Chair was neat and tidy without doing anything threatening. I can't think of one good passing move we put together.
That said, it felt like a 0-0 game until we handed them the lead. They hadn't had a shot on target themselves until Lumley put them 1-0 up. That is his 3rd huge - HUGE - error in just 9 games. He has to give Kelly a chance now. Yes Lumley made some good stops at the death but he was having to make all those saves as we chased the game and he put us in that position. If it was still 0-0 they wouldn't have been putting us under waves of breakaway attacks.
