Is anybody else looking at Watford with a bit of trepidation as the window closes. Dennis has gone, Sarr and Pedro look to be on their way. They’re going to be shopping late until the deadline, and I don’t see many better alternatives for them than Willock 🤷♂️ a good performance Saturday, does that convince them to drop a bid in?

I know the Sarr deal has fallen through but him + Pedro leaving will be around £50 million banked, if not more.
You are right they could do a lot worse than Willock and he may be tempted by a genuine promotion push. BUT would a Championship to Championship deal really be north of £15 million that we may hope for?

Having played us on Saturday they will have had front row seats of Willock's prowess.....
At least his value is going up with every passing game. He's getting towards unplayable and we will do well to keep him. Superstar.
I'd be hopeful that he won't go anywhere in this window because the only clubs who can really afford to pay the fee he would command are from the Premiership.
Because of FFP any Championship teams (even those with parachute payments) that wanted to sign Willock would need would need to have already sold one or more of their players for equally big money. A team like Watford have money in the bank from already selling Dennis but they have plenty of cover in the Willock role.

A bit of wishful think there Stoatey... Willock is one of the best players in the Championship and if Watford think he can get them promoted then I suspect they will come in for him.
And frankly I'm sure there are some PL teams looking at him...is Chris a worse player now than his brother Joe? Joe's playing every week for Newcastle
I'm going to be absolutely gutted if he goes now but I fear the sudden change in tone from "we can't afford to get anyone in" to "we're very hopeful of 2 to 5 new players coming in" suggests to me he may already be on his way.

God I hope I'm wrong
I was hoping that any Watord scouts who might be reading our boards would be deflected and it would get them thinking they dont need him and put them off signing him.
In reality I'm with you, northwesthoop and everyone else in hoping that by Thursday Willock is still with us. I see that both us and Watford are believed to have made offers for Ayoub Assal of Wimbledon who plays a similar role.

It is going to be a tense few days until the shutters come down on this transfer window!
Be interesting to see what happens at Bournemouth too over the last few days of the window. I look at Fulham brining in Willian and think it’d make more sense for them to go for Willock, but I won’t complain if they don’t 😅
Our best bit of business is keeping Willock. We now need to spend the next few months offering him a new deal. If we have to include minimum fee release clauses, so be it. But keeping him - and keeping him fit - gives us a real shot at pushing for Top 6.

I agree northwesthoop.
Willock's contract finishes in 2023 but we have an extension option of another 12 months so effectively we have him tied down until the summer of 2024. The sooner we get an idea of whether he would sign an improved contract the better. We can't get into the Bright Osayi Samuel situation where he just keeps us hanging on and running down his contract.
Willock is our biggest asset and this is the time that we should be discussing new terms and an extension with him and his agent. My fear is that our owners have mismanaged our club from day one and I'm not confident they will manage this situation any better.
"An update on Chris Willock, he will be back before the World Cup so I'm envisioning around the Norwich and West Brom games. He will probably miss next week and the week after, but I expect him back on the pitch the week after."
Just read the good news about his hamstring and delighted - for him, the team and the supporters! Ethan Laird's problem was a tightening of the hamstring, no more; so he will be available for the Luton game.
