2021/22 Pre-season Matches and talk

Record breaking season ticket sales, best in 11 years since the title winning season. People can't wait to get out of the house!

Aaaargh the Gils stadium is only a hour's drive for me, so I would love to have gone, but I expect/hope I will be hashing in Croatia then! 

I am guessing there will be a third game which is against a tougher side - probably PL?

No sooner had I posted the above than another fixture is announced - Man Utd at the KPF on 24 July! With Leicester a week later that is two tough matches to finish on!!

Some very good friendlies to look forward to and the two home friendlies look very attractive to not only draw the fans back but to also test the team.

Starting off playing teams like Cambridge and Gillingham will allow the squad to get fit before a step up of pace and tempo against the Premiership teams.

The key with these matches is to not read too much into them because it's more to do with getting match fit and building that team ethos.

This afternoons behind closed doors friendly against Portsmouth ended in a 2 - 1 win with goals from Ramkilde and Shodipo.

The R's were a goal down at halftime but drew level with a goal from Ramkilde and a winning penalty from Shodipo. The game was played at Harlington.

Not just De Wijs injured - so was Chair! I can only think the pre-match games were lively!! 

I also thought the same about Shodipo, who apparently dribbled into the penalty box after taking on 2 defenders and was then fouled. That was positive play and confidence on show! if Uncle Albert does go then this is the season for Shodipo to come off the bench and start establishing himself as an important squad member.
