OK, it ends 4-2 and probably should be taken as two separate games in so much as wholesale changes at 61 minutes meant half of the team was subbed! Having said that, those coming on did well too, despite the obvious depth shown in United's squad as they too made changes, with Kelman & Thomas hungry up front and McKenna & Bettache looking a handful in midfield, and the on-loan McCallum looking the biz too. Very happy!
btw less than pleased at the Man Utd promos and closing sequences - this is OUR ground not theirs!!!

Great pre season performance. It was about brushing away the cobwebs and getting some of the new players involved so we can tick those boxes. Lots of positives.

Well that was bloody lovely!
It may only be a friendly but Man United will have certain expectations and we were playing them off the park for a lot of that game.
That 10 minute spell where we scored 3 goals and went 4-1 up was outstanding. Friendly or not, it was outstanding.
Wallace, Chair and Willock all look like they are carrying on from last season.
My Dad said 'Odebajo looks like the best right back since David Bardsley', I said that's a bit OTT... about 2 minutes late he smashes it in the top corner from 25 yards with his weaker foot.
Expectations will go through the roof now, but we just look confident, well drilled and a talented team. And all of that without Johansen!

Do we know why Amos and Dunne weren't involved today? I presume that unless they have injuries we can expect to see them against Cambridge.
Dunne played the whole of the second half. The whole back line was a bit more shaky in the second half, they never really settled but nobody was poor.
Amos isn't due back to match fitness until August. I would expect him to perhaps be a sub in the cup game and make a few sub appearances in the league as we head into late August.

Thanks northwesthoop, I didn't watch the game and I didn't see Dunne's name in the match squad but glad he got some game time.
Sounded like a decent match to get the players towards being match fit for our opening game. As long as our fans don't get too carried away by the result it can be seen as a step in the right direction but nothing more.
Warburton will be happy and he can now look forward to Cambridge and getting more minutes for all the squad.
It was not just the commentators who were in denial. In the second half tackles started to get a little tasty because they were being shown up! We should really enjoy this moment (especially as Leicester may not have forgotten they are a Premiership side....)

Moving onto Tuesday I would expect to see Archer and Johansen get some game time along with quite a few of todays 2nd half subs.
With so many leagues games ahead of him I can see Charlie being rested and then starting in the Leicester game. Warburton now has so many options that the competition for places should keep every player on their toes.
