Don't get cross with me for starting this thread before the official announcement but the bookies have stopped taking bets so I'll eat my hat if he's not announced in the next 24 hours!
So what do we think and perhaps more importantly... What do we know about Michael Beale?

I didn't realise bookies had stopped taking bets!
As jrperry1882 said elsewhere it is a big gamble... He's never managed at this level. But to me he's at least quite an exciting option given the uninspiring list of options we've been looking at for the past month.
He is quite clearly a very adept coach. He will have good contacts in youth development and will hopefully aid us in picking up some rough diamonds. Can he handle it when we suffer a few defeats in a row? There are question marks, but I hope he can do very well...if appointed!!
i know little about him infact nothing so as some of you say its a gamble. of the other options available im happy with this as he is unknown although i do hope they keep Eustace to work alongside him to me it feels like the Plan A fell through and this very much smells of a Plan B? i would have thought the way MW left us they would have revealed a manager a long time before now.
lets hope he can bring someone decent with him in from the fringes of the Villa Squad hopefully a striker or 2 that can smash some goals in for us.
i will be right behind him no matter what happens. if its Beale or whoever i do believe they made the right decision in letting MW go as in my opinion having an end of season like Warburton did a change had to come.
you could tell body languague from Feb onwards wasnt right.
Yes hes a risk but look at watford they have just come down from the premier league and their boss has virtually come from non league football beale will hopefully get some good youngsters from other premier league clubs, and its help hes well known in the game hes also pretty young for a manager hes a damn good coach but as northwest has said is he a man manager can he handle the heat if we lose a few in a row

I would say on Watford that Rob Edwards’ appointment is a big shift away from what the Pozzo’s have typically done. Albeit you could argue Zola and García were young managers. But a British bloke getting that job suggests to me that they aren’t planning to get promoted next season. Also if you look at their squad I think you’ll witness mass turnovers with half of them going to Udinese.
But yeah Beale — BIG BIG risk; you hope it’s Steve Cooper but I confess I fear it’ll be more Chris Ramsey 2015. It’s a free hit for him though. If he succeeds the clamour will grown rapidly. If he fails, he’ll just go back to supporting Gerrard.
My biggest concern though is what this means for transfers. I will find next season incredibly demoralising if half the squad are Premier League loanees which I fear it will be. I hate this policy of essentially ‘renting’ other clubs players. In most cases you're lining their pockets and getting very very little in return. If we end up with 4 Villa Player and 3 Spurs players, I will switch off from the season very quickly
Is there a candidate who doesn't have risks? Manning never managed this high before, Robinson only year at this level he went down even Warburton staying was no guarantee. This at least feels like we are building on the last 3 years rather than starting again so I'm happy with that
