i know Kakay is our only right back which shouldnt have happened before season starts
i also believe Beale is wrong to play a back 4 with the players available to him, to not play Dunne after the season he had last season is odd give Clarke Salter the bench role if you do have to play a back 4 let him earn his place for me Dunne was our best defender last season.
if we dont get a new striker over the next 3 weeks cant see us anywhere near the play off push this season (lets hope hes seen enough in Sinclair Armstrong to justify not signing a new striker if he comes good all is well)

the team i would have fielded would have been. not sure if Amos fit or not if he wasnt fit which i presume he wasnt play Dozzell

no shots on target against a very average Blackburn.

most of the squad are used to this system (i know theres a new manager with new ideas but im still in shock seeing Kakay and especially Shodipo starting) all like i say seems to be to keep the board happy with the youth set up looking like its stronger than it is

he's not gonna play a back 3, has always been a back 4 coach so wouldn't expect that to change, it's harsh on Dunne who did well last season but worth remembering he was also back up this time last year as well but earned his place in the side, I'm sure he can do that again.

He Will prove himself but i dont think he should have to again especially when one of the players playing is Kakay (the team formation i saw was 343 with Kakay as the right sided central defender)

Kakay: was only selected for one reason alone as was Shodipo to keep the board happy in his first ever managers job he needs to show more backbone because for me he comes across like far too many managers i work with just wanting to keep there bosses happy instead of using common sense.

very bad day at the office and for me a real bad start to life at QPR not only because of the defeat which i could handle and expected but to field that team made no sense.

Shodipo out of the wilderness into a starting berth? i can remember a lot of you on here saying why have we kept him as hes been given time enough. i know most of you agree with me and say Kakay should be nowhere near the first team and should really be in league 1 at best

I think both played as we had no one else in those positions fit or avaliable, and both had done pretty well in pre season. Kakay had a good game as well by the sound of it.
It looked like we played 4-3-3 on Saturday but didn't see the game live so may well be wrong.

Ask yourself the simple question why !st Game of the season did we not have a decent right back and striker/ number 10 willock role available?

Am sure if fit Willock or Roberts would have started ahead of Shodipo

I agree with you northwesthoop, definitely a 4-3-2-1 formation. If we believed the BBC then Dozzell was playing as our right wing back.

seems your all happy Kakay and Shodipo (both nowhere near championship standards) playing from the start and isnt a concern for you all.
this is why MW didnt get his contract renewed as the board wanted him to play the kids.
Beale so blatantly is trying to keep the board happy its actually quite alarming you cant play those kind of players in this league Niko H will be next see how that goes.

signings must come in fast because all i see is a real long hard slog with the crop of players we have at the minute.
Championship should never have started this early and the team we fielded proved it.
just hope nd pray he has a few cards up his sleeves and pulls a rabbit out the bag.

I don't think anybody is happy with Shodipo starting, but as daveb said elsewhere he wouldn't even be on the bench if Willock and Roberts were fit. He obviously impressed the manager in pre-season and got a chance whilst others are injured. That's fair enough. As for Kakay we have no other option. We were definitely trying to sign McNamara but things didn't fall into place. At this stage what can we do?

We cannot be too harsh on the team when:

It was the first match in the system and for a new manager
We were missing our best player (Willock)
We were missing Roberts who is a big part of how Beale wants to set up
We still haven't made all our signings (we know a right back and forward will sign in the next few weeks)

Saturday was bad, we know that. I fancy Middlesbrough will beat us up too, but I am reserving too big of a statement and predictions of our demise until we've played more than 90 minutes and finalised the squad.

I don't want to burst your, or anybody else's, bubble but a long hard slog describes the typical season for most clubs in the Champ including QPR.

How many of last seasons 24 clubs were in the top six for more than 4 weeks straight?

How many league games has it been since we dropped out of the top 6?

New manager, new system, new players, more new players to come in, injuries...I'm expecting nothing this season other than a commitment from the players to play with pride and never give up

I agree that it will be a long hard season and whilst things weren't great against Blackburn I believe the core of our first team are decent players.

The issue for me is the wider squad and understanding why we aren't producing enough players through our Youth Academy/Development squad who are good enough to challenge for a first team place.

Okay, we get the odd ones like Eze, Dieng or Chair but is that a good enough return. Chris Ramsey seems to be held in high regard around the club but I'm not sure why because like the DoF his main obsession seems to be signing young Spurs rejects.

I couldnt even name the last player that came through our youth academy and then progressed to the first team (Im sure northwesthoop will help me with that one.) Trying to attract young talented players when your competition is Chelsea, Fulham, Arsenal, Spurs etc. is going to be hugely difficult and I wonder if we should review our policy of having academy teams.

Thanks northwesthoop, I knew I could rely on you. I'd discounted Lumley because he came from Spurs at sixteen but Kakay is a great shout.

Darnell Furlong I overlooked, he too was a good one we let go far to cheaply in my opinion.

There was a 10-15 period though where literally we only purchased players and didn't even cast an eye towards the youth team.

Aside from that group we've mentioned there have only been other players come through, make an appearance or two and then disappear to the lower leagues.

And aside from Furlong we haven't got any money for any of these players that were trained at the club from the age of 7-8.
