Critchley must have been at the game but they hid him away so as not to cause a distraction. It's good that he's now in place and hopefully it gives the team a boost.
Good manager It can’t get any worse northwest mate Hopefully he can get us out of this rut we are in I don’t expect miracles straight away though Lets put Beale right behind us now and wish the new boss well

The problem any new manager will have Where do our goals come from ? Answers on a postcard please We seriously in January need to get some players that can score goals,we’ve dried up all over the park If critchley doesn’t solve our lack of goals issue, then we may have a relegation battle on our hands Our defence also has totally fallen apart at the moment He’s got one hell of a job on his hands

On the face of things this seems a logical and decent appointment. The 3 new coaches all worked together at Blackpool and managed to get them promoted and then the following season they were competitive in the Championship. But for Mick Beale's decision to leave Villa they may have had Blackpool challenging at the top of the Championship this season.
The new coaches will have watched yesterdays game and would have seen that our squad lacks any quality in depth and I'd imagine that they were given assurances money would be made available for additions. The caveat might be that those funds won't be given until the summer. We know that the club are loathe (and I agree with this) to buy anyone in the January window but we could see loan deals. Whilst the club and the fans would love to see us charging back up the league it would be a miracle unless we could put out our very best team who play at the top of their form each week.
Critchley and his coaches will need the rest of this season to settle, assess the squad and I'd imagine they will look at a top 10 finish as success and a top 15 position as acceptable. With so many under performers I'd be amazed if there isn't a major clear out at the end of the season. Players like Bonne, Shodipo, Albert, Hamallainen, Gubbins, Masterson, Thomas, Bettache, Owens etc, etc., are not Championship quality. Teams around us are all moving forward and we will only progress if we bring in better quality.
Last season we would have seen players like Willock, Chair, Dieng, Field, Dickie and maybe Amos as saleable assets. Today, Willock is out of form, Amos is injured again, Dickie can't get in the team, Chair is warming the bench for Morrocco and only Dieng and Field look like they might command a transfer fee.
Hopefully, Critchley and his coaches can work some magic but realistically it might take some time.
id agree with that,it will take some time and it wont be this season now we will see it happen personally think the team needs a slight overhaul and deadwood like bonne and thomas moving on elsewhere the problem weve had for many seasons is our lack of strength in depth and when we get injuries etc our bench is very low in quality our best 11 was capable of being top of the league but lets be honest around 6 teams could of gone top at that time there is lots to sort out, like do we keep players like dykes or get somebody in who will actually score more often critchley's teams are known for being very hard to break down so the defence will be worked on straight away

This is a good point stoatey and it is what is holding us back.
I think you are right that the loan market can be used to good effect - look at 2 years ago - we had a phenomenal January window and only just missed out on the Top 6 despite starting the year just outside the bottom 3.
We are in a lot better position in the table now than we were then. It can be done.
But it does feel given our current form and lack of confidence that Critchley will indeed need a magic touch to get us in the Top 6 this season.

I think that going forward it's very important that the fans give Critchley some time to assess the players and to decide which formation works best with the squad of players that is currently available. At Blackpool he only won one of his first seven games but once he'd worked out what he had they improved and things just got better.
Like Beale I think the guy is tactically astute and won't be afraid to change systems and tactics should there be a need.
I think this is a sensible appointment from the club. He's shown in the past that he can do well at clubs with limited budgets. The only reservation I have is that he's also shown he's more than happy to jump ship when a bigger club comes calling, just like a certain someone we know!
I'm just hoping we can put the money we got for Beale (as well as the money for Chair and Dieng from being at the World Cup) towards some improvements/decent cover. It's not unreasonable to say we could possibly have £2m to spend in January, and that's a lot better than the summer when we had mothing to spend at all
Our QPR Preview Show comes earlier this week as both kingfisher and daveb join me to discuss the appointment of Neil Critchley
We then turn our attentions to the daunting looking trip to Preston.
As always a very enjoyable show. The only thing I'd add about last Sunday's game was that Burnley gave us a master class in fast, accurate passing. I don't remember too many teams coming to LR and playing the ball around quite as well as they did.
