He averages a goal every 6 games so he will fit right in.
I genuinely thought he was an oaf at Derby even when he was half decent, at Bristol City he's been nothing more than a lump to throw on like Matt Smith late in the game.
34 years old...we should have stuck with Charlie Austin.
Wouldn't have been my choice and it will probably now restrict the appearances of Armstrong.
Although you can see Critchley's thinking because with Willock so out of form he wants the option of starting with a target man and moving Lowe back out to the left.

Another good point, the club doesn't seem to learn. Last season we could have just played Mahoney and brought in Westwood which was utterly pointless.
They clearly still have hopes of a top 6 finish, otherwise it's pointless again and just taking away opportunities from our long term development youngsters.
I have to admit I was surprised at this news. Surprised they got it over the line in time and surprised it is Chris Martin. He is an out-and-out striker and will require proper service from the wings and through the midfield if he is to score and make that difference. I can see us reverting to long balls more than we do currently. It does bring up the question of the formation and whether Willock or even Armstrong has an immediate future when Martin plays up front. Neil Critchley is going to have to change the way the team plays to some extent, but it does gives us the extra striker we needed. I only hope Armstrong is used for the last 20 minutes or so, as Martin tires.

Martin will probably need a pie and a pint around the 60 minute mark so Armstrong should still see some game time.
It's funny reading we need to service Martin from the wings when poor Dykes has been pretty much starved of service most of this season. Not sure why we will change now.
Think he’ll play as a backboard for Chair, Willock and Lowe to play off. Imperative runners come from midfield if Martin is to succeed as, much like Austin, he’s overweight and got very little in his legs. Will rough up a few centre-backs. Anybody else think we’ll see more Martin yellows than goals?
Since the 2017/18 season he's made 191 appearances in the Championship, playing 10,919 minutes (avg. of 57 minutes/game), scoring 30 goals (c.1 goal every 364 minutes,) and picked up 16 yellow cards (a yellow every c. 682 minutes). If he's true to form he will get a yellow card for about every 2 goals he scores.
If Chris Martin scores 5 goals or more by the end of the season You all will donate £100 to charity then If that’s how confident most of you are, how crap he is
