Wow what a result against the league leaders to prevent them guaranteeing promotion! I still am in seventh heaven!!
Well, onto Stoke our next opponents. They drew at Cardiff and sit in 16th place on 53 points. Our last 5 games read:
Stoke LDLLD
QPR LDLDW
The squad has a week to recover from what had to be an exhausting match to play in (it was bad enough watching)! Hopefully we have time for all the knocks to be resolved, including JCS and perhaps Balogun? Here is my guess at the side Ainsworth will select:
Dieng
Laird Dickie Dunne Paal
Lowe Tim Field Chair
Armstrong Dykes
Thanks NWH for explaining exactly where we are and what we have to do:
1. QPR need to better one of Reading's results. If Reading lose either of their final games we are safe.
2. One win in our last 2 games keeps us up regardless of any other results.
3. Even 1 point for us means Reading has to win both its games... and one of them is against Huddersfield who are 3 points below us so that would take points off them.
4. If QPR lose both games we will still go down if Reading get 4 points from their final 2 games and if Huddersfield get 3 points from their 3 games (our goal difference is always working against us in that regard).
5. Wigan can no longer catch us - but they are down if they don't win at Reading next Saturday, which should at least make them a very difficult opponent for Reading.
6. Blackpool can only overtake us if they win both games and if we lose both games - they face play-off chasing Millwall and Norwich
Long and short of it... we are heavy favourites to survive now. It would be nice to just get a win at Stoke which ensures our safety and we can enjoy the final day. 1 point at Stoke and we are safe if Reading fail to beat Wigan.
