We will need to be compact and keep it tight tonight As even palace reserves will have plenty of pace especially down the wings If we can frustrate them and keep it 0-0 for as long as possible we could Nick something I’m going for a 3-1 loss though if I’m honest and that’s without eze playing

The Mirror has quoted Palace as saying they are treating the cup game very seriously! That means mostly Starters in action I guess. As we discussed in the Preview, their attack line is dangerous and I really think our makeshift CB pairing will struggle, although I am hoping we will get the chance to run at their defence and that means Saito, Smith & Dembele must play.

I don't see Marti wanting to start many of his first choice players against Palace, but with injuries to Morrison, Fox and JCS plus no real left back cover, a few of them may have to play.
The Championship games have to take precedence and whilst winning Cup matches keeps confidence high we have to ensure that the likes of Cook and Paal are fit and ready to face Millwall on Saturday. As a result Marti will be relying on the Performance data to ascertain who he can risk and who should be rested or benched. Presuming that none of the centre backs who were unavailable for the Sheffield Wednesday game are still out I think Marti goes with,
I'm taking back everything I said before, now I've seen the team they started against Norwich!
Eze could well start as he did against Norwich, as will many other 1st team players... when the draw was made I was initially optimistic... not so much now... Clearly Palace are taking the cups seriously
I think that could be right but I'd expect Dixon-Bonner and Smyth to start. Who that is in place of I don't know. Maybe Santos and Dembele drop out for them.
Marti's comments suggested Field is fine, but Morrison and JCS are almost certainly out which probably forces Cook to play. I wonder if we will even play Field at the back later in the game to try and take Cook off after 60 minutes.
Or maybe to rest Cook we have to start Field at centre back? Seems risky against a top flight side but he's done ok there before.

Suddenly we are back in the same position of not enough fit CBs! I think that is the Back 4 that will start if Santos goes to WB or is rested; otherwise he will play again at RB. Smyth on the other wing to Saito would offer fast attacks down the wing, plus his defending is always good. I do feel that with our unsettled team we will struggle even more than I expected!
Palace have named a very strong side. Eze starts. As do Guehi, Mateta, Nketiah, Henderson etc.
Varane and EDB in defensive midfield. I think this is a very weak looking team who should be easily dismantled by a strong looking Palace team. Marti is rightly treating the Millwall game as our priority.
I just hope we don't get hammered but I'm a bit fearful that it may happen.
