I actually think we could find ourselves in a relegation scrap next year unless we sort out the CB situation. There is also a risk that we lose our best players without getting adequate replacements. This is regardless of who is manager. On the plus side, we’ll have some of the youngsters in the 1st team picture for the whole season.
If TF has any ambition now is the time to step up and prove to the fans that he wants to take the club forward. The 10 most significant things that I can remember under his stewardship have been:
1. Got rid of our most successful manager of recent times (twice) 2. Appointed Phillip Beard (the less said the better) 3. Appointed Mark Hughes (probably the worst manager we have ever had) 4. Appointed Harry Redknapp (gave us one of our greatest days when we won the Championship play off against Derby) 5. Approved spending that meant we broke FFP rules landing the club with a crippling fine 6. Got us relegated from the Premier League (twice) 7. Appointed Les Ferdinand as DoF (A QPR hero as a player but I have no idea how he now benefits the club) 8. Appointed Chris Ramsey (a nice guy but a poor manager) 9. Appointed JFH (why) 10. Constantly complains about the flak he receives (Read the above Tony and be thankful that you didn't buy your beloved West Spam because their fans might not be quite as forgiving as we have been!)
Not a great record IMHO and it's time for TF to step up to the plate and put his hand in his own pocket to make up for all the mistakes he has made. Can't see it happening tho. Unfortunately we are a club in decline and the fans are talking with their feet because the crowds are also in decline.
Every club in the country would love a board of directors similar to what we have. They have written off almost 500m. They have taken the debt in shares. With the best will in the world they will never recoup that money. And they are fully aware of this. You could pick holes in many of your points but it won't help.

I would like a board of directors similar to ours just not the same.
If you have to write off 500m from a business/football club doesnt that mean it's' been poorly run by the people at the top.
Moving the debt from one line of the balance sheet to another line still means that the club is in debt. The best bit is that the people at the top have lost the money and tell us we should be thankful. It's just smoke and mirrors.
If you buy any company and run it poorly then you lose your money and you might never recoup those losses. Run it well and you might make a profit. That's how a business works.
You are welcome to pick holes in the points made but they are all facts!
You raise many good points stoatey and one of the worst errors looking back was appointing Ramsey. We were still very much in the mix to survive when he took over and we went down with little fight. The job was way beyond him. That relegation was so costly at a time when premier league money shot up.
It also meant that Ramsey was in charge when our best chance to come back up was to hit the ground running after relegation. We still had Austin, Phillips etc and it was nonsense having Ramsey in charge.
It was so clear Ramsey was not the man for the job, the mind still boggles at what they were thinking appointing him.
Yes the club is in debt according to MR HOOS. But as he also said by no means the amounts rumoured. Because of what the directors did by taking shares. The appointment of RAMSEY was a mistake but not his fault. At the time I stated that it was LES who pushed him forward to TF. That's why he was feeling so bad when he had to sack him. But nobody would say a bad word about LET. However I noticed that TF has said he could do better.
Stoatey's list is a shocking rap sheet, although we could debate 2 or 3 of them. For example, appointing JFH seemed perfectly reasonable at the time (a young up-and-coming manager). But my main point is what do we want him to do that will make a dramatic step forwards for the club? Remember it is not TF that refuses to invest - it is FFP that is stopping him. Starting from where we are today and seeing the progress over the last 12 months, I'm happy to see more of the same. The focus this summer should be on the squad. We need good replacements for The Chief and probably Robinson. Also for anyone else we sell because we receive good offers (Luongo? Freeman? etc.).
I accept JFH had to go because of his off field antics.(TF was being diplomatic when he said this had nothing to do with it.) But he had us 12th in the table and 60 points. Not going backwards.

Totally agree how poor Ramsay turned out to be, and must ask why Sir Les and the Board felt he had the experience and skill-set to succeed? I can only presume they saw success with the young players at Spurs as proof of his capabilities. It is now obvious that is not always enough... Though at least he did not do a Viv Nicholson, like 'Arry & Sparky, and spend, spend, spend! I feel Chris Ramsay is in the right role now and is producing results, both for the team and for himself.
Oh definitely I agree with pamment8 and kingfisher that Ramsey is not to blame personally, I actually felt sorry for him at the time.
The club made two mistakes though; the first appointing him in the first place costing us any chance of survival, the second not getting rid of him that summer when it was clear he wasn't the man for the job. That second decision cost us any chance of coming straight back up.
Now we have a mountain to climb if we ever want a better chance of going back up again.
The point made by Pamment8 about Sir Les is valid and as I see things the fact that TF gave him the title of DoF was really smart. It meant that any flak directed at TF due to poor manager appointments or player signings could now be deflected onto Sir Les. What TF knew was that because Sir Les is a QPR hero then any flak would be minimal because who is going to criticise a club hero. I feel Sir Les is being used by those further up the food chain and like many QPR fans I don't want my memory of him to be tarnished. Sir Les was a great player who played under plenty of managers but he ain't a DoF. This is proven by his recommendations to appoint Chris Ramsey and JFH. At best he might be considered our Chief Scout but we all understand that the guy pulling all the strings at the club (all footbal as well as club business) and undertaking all TF instructions is Lee Hoos.
Lee Hoos might be the CEO and is doing a sterling job in trying to get us back on an even keel but he is an employee of TF and it's not in his interest to criticise what has previously happened at the club. He has to tow the party line or else he will be out.
I hope that the future of QPR is brighter than it currently appears to me.
....I hope that the future of QPR is brighter than it currently appears to me.
That probably read worse than you meant stoatey? Being realistic (which is difficult for any football club supporter) I do not see QPR as a Premier side anytime soon; and, conversely, I do not see QPR dropping to League One either. So we are talking about how well we would expect QPR to perform in the Championship, and it is here that I feel there is genuine concern. In my mind, based upon the club's structure/history/current team set-up we should have been a top half finisher this season, even Top 10. That would have meant an awful lot more goals scored and a lot less goals conceded - especially away from home! in fact, if we had drawn far more away games we lost then we would have certainly achieved a top half finish. Where do others think QPR should be - top or bottom or middle of the Championship, or even the PL or League One?
I think we will just be like we have been the last few seasons Struggling to stay in the division and bottom half We can't pretend that we will achieve anything better with the current set up We have no money and Ollie in my opinion is just a steady manager in our league but nothing special, but he's a damn good league one manager Let's face it the bottom 6 was awful this season and we stayed up purely by beating most of them We had some great results against wolves and villa But got our usual hammering at forest and the MK dons cup exit was just as bad We need to get defenders a that position is going to be a huge hole to fill now,a striker also is required and creative midfielder, but even scowen and freeman could go and then we're buggered totally
I agree with single, without any investment we are a team that will struggle to stay in the Championship. What makes things worse for me is when you hear the rubbish spouted by TF. In a recent interview he was asked how he'd assess his time with the Hoops, he said: "I think that's relative.
"From where we are right now, if I was to give an A,B,C,D; I'd say maybe a C+.
"I think we're heading in the right direction but I've always said this is not a sprint, it's a marathon. It's going to take a long time to get right.
He seems to have forgotten that when he took over we were a Premiership club and we were an A- or B+. If you go from an A- or B+ to a C+ that's not a very good direction to be heading.
I would suggest that with the likes of Smithies, Mass and Freeman all being looked at by other clubs we could start next season with a very young and inexperienced team.
As always it comes down to fine margins when we look at what direction the club are heading...
Keep hold of Smithies, Luongo and Freeman and with clever additions we could be looking at a top 10 finish, if not higher depending if the additions were good enough. They are a strong nucleus.
But lose those 3 players, added to the fact we have no defence currently, and we'll be thankful to not break the lowest points record!
