Do not care who was/is/could be lined up for the job - Ollie deserved another year to prove he can move us up the league table. To sack him when he is trying to cope with his mother's death and subsequent funeral was particularly unedifying! We were playing better football (albeit only every other game), youngsters were being 'blooded', and Ollie & Bircham did do extensive research on opponents before selecting their line-ups ( even if they were sometimes odd to us). This was a proper manager working under financial and numerical constraints who then had to cope with a bizarre number of major injuries to senior players. I think he did well under the circumstances!

I wonder if that will have been Holloways last job? He said he would only return for QPR but will he now want to prove something elsewhere? He may not like that he was clearly a stop-gap appointment here and have a chip on his shoulder.

More likely he will return to the TV work.
Hmmm....I wonder whether Holloway & Bircham could deliver the same intensity and passion elsewhere, although I would love to see them try with Charlton or another League One side. If they gained promotion and then proceeded to climb above QPR then it would be no more than we deserve as a club...
Oh gawd... Maclaren... really? I can't get that stupid photo out of my mind... the umbrella! Ha ha!. Actually it's not that funny. What a dour, dull, seemingly uninterested British coach. At times he seems completely at a loss as to how to articulate his ideas. I'm a QPR fan so I wish him well and hope for the best. Of course I'd love to be proven wrong and I'm happy to say I was wrong - but I think we will be relegated with him at the helm. Or he'll lose lots of games and some poor sod will have to come in, we'll still be relegated and that poor sod will be sacked.
It's a poor choice with no real ambition. And even if, as a supporter you can stomach that the overall goal wasn't ambition but steady progress - then sacking Holloway is pure madness.
It's almost as if QPR enjoy controversy in-between seasons.

Well it has been days since the McClaren rumours started and almost as long since Ollie was sacked, so what is going on? Surely, after all the previous cock-ups, the club must have had someone lined up to replace the incumbent? Has something gone wrong with the negotiations? Should we start a rumour that Ollie is in negotiation.....?
It's predictably farcical, isn't it, Kingfisher? I think what frustrates me is that there is never going to be a chance for a manager to 'warm the seat' and spend time reforming the squad and more importantly, the club. If no time is given to a manager then we can't expect anything but instability. I feel sorry for Holloway, given the fact that he was reasonably successful at accomplishing the tasks asked of him.
Really it can be summed up that any association with running a football club is fraught with misery!
Ian Holloway has spoken for the first time since being sacked as QPR manager – admitting he’s “bitterly disappointed” to have lost his job. He told the LMA: "It has been a privilege and honour to have been QPR manager not once but twice, for over 300 matches. "I am bitterly disappointed to have been asked to leave the club, but I proudly believe it is in a better place than when I arrived. "I'm sure the club will go on from strength to strength and I thank the fans for their wonderful passion and the support they gave me and my team.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure and wish the club all the very best for the future. Come on you Rs!"
Make of that what you will. Certainly not a case (as some other sites proclaim) that he was the one who wanted to finish!

Now that Ollie has made his statement maybe we will get something from TF to explain his reasons for the sacking.
Im sure he will do well at Grimsby and the fact he is moving up there shows his commitment to their club.
Despite him doing what he was tasked with at QPR he was well and truely shafted by TF. Be interesting to see whether we let him have any of our youngsters on loan. Somebody like Masterson could benifit from a spell on loan with Ollie at Grimsby.
Sounds like he is fully committed to Grimsby. The Olly of old would be the perfect man for that job. I hope that is still the case and that it really works out for him. It could be an inspired match for both parties.
Holloway has been appointed as the new manager of Grimsby. He's become a shareholder and is moving to the area.
A strange move but be clearly wants another big challenge.
Grimsby are struggling in League 2 with no win in about 3 months.
Hopefully he does a great job!
I saw that report and my first thought was that this is a big challenge for both the club and Ollie, but hopefully his experience will turn their fortunes around and they will discover his passion for the game too!
